Hey so I got accepted to UCD for Biomedical Engineering and I just found out that it isnt ABET accredited. Since I plan to go into biotech for a career would it be best to stick with BME or switch to another engineering major that is accredited like Chemical Engineering? Also how hard is it to switch majors at UCD?

It is very easy to switch majors. If you are switching from one college to another (i.e. College of Engineering to College of Agriculture), you will need to get a signature from your current college advisor, get a signature from your new advisor for your new major (I.e. NPB), and then turn it in to the new college (College of Agriculture or where ever else).

what do you do if you are switching majors within the same college? also do you have to wait a given amount of time like a quarter to switch majors?

I have been accepted in the Computer Science program at UC Davis and Computer
Engineering program at Cal Poly SLO, and am trying to decide where to go. Is it difficult to switch from Computer Science in the College of Letters and Science at UCD to Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering? Do I have to wait until my junior year?

@Ocpuck13 in order to switch within the same college just get the signature of your advisor (current major) and your new advisor (new major). All you need to do is print out a request to change major form. You will, however, have to wait until your Winter quarter of Freshman year to switch majors.

@rblumhardt if switching majors for Engineering is similar to bio sci and other majors, then it will be very easy to switch. You just have to wait one quarter to switch; your Winter quarter of freshman year.
