Since I've decided to go to Stony Brook, I've realized that I (already) may want to change majors. Instead of Biology, I want to pursue a B.S. in Biochemistry. Not only is it a more interesting field than plain Biology, there are research opportunities for this major that are not only pertinent to my interests, but also to the interests of medical school. I was accepted as a Biology major, so am I stuck with this, or would a simple phone call alleviate this problem?

LisaRN - That won’t actually change her major officially, but it’s a good start, at least for Orientation purposes. Once she gets here in the fall – and same to you, Xelb – just stop by the registrar, pick up the form, and have the bio department sign off on it.

Thank you so much Chris! I’m going to keep this thread in mind, not because I want to switch to biochemistry, however, but because I want to switch it to Health Sciences. Sure I’m doing pre-med, but they are only a series of pre-requisites required by medical school, which I will be able to take as a Health Science major. Plus the Emergency Care and Critical Care concentration really seems like something I would enjoy throughly.

@Xelb - The BSHS (Health Sciences) is a whole separate issue; you can “declare” that at any point, although your actual HS coursework won’t start until senior year.
