Changing Majors

<p>While sending in my SIR, I noticed I could change my major, which I decided to do. I followed the instructions on this page (<a href="https://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/admitted/MajorChanges.asp%5B/url%5D"&gt;https://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/admitted/MajorChanges.asp&lt;/a&gt;) and sent an email to UCSB requesting a major change. However, I received an automated reply and I'm not sure if they confirmed that they got my major request email. </p>

<p>Has anyone been able to change their major successfully through email? Is there some sort of confirmation that they got your request for a major change?</p>

<p>If it’s a L&S to L&S, you’ll have have it changed really fast. If it’s L&S to Eng., then you’ll be placed in a list and will have to wait until after May 1 to have your request either granted or denied (limited spots make it really hard).</p>

<p>I got my L&S major changed to another L&S while placed on a list for an Eng. major. I hope this helped. :)</p>

<p>Yeah I’m changing from undecided to pre-bio in L&S :slight_smile: Thanks for that information! When you emailed them did they reply with any confirmation about your major change?</p>

<p>They kind of did reply with a confirmation because I was trying to change to an Engineering major and they told me what would happen, etc. so I’m not sure if they will send a confirmation e-mail. Even if you don’t, a new major should appear on that admission status website. </p>

<p>And don’t expect any changes/replies on weekends. :p</p>

<p>@ariyuq if you got accepted to L&S (and if you’re a transfer) you can’t change to any major in CoE.</p>

<p>The admissions counselor sent an e-mail recently saying that, right now, changes to an Engineering major is highly based on available space.</p>
