Changing Majors

I found out I was admitted for fall 2014 on 1/28 and I got into the scholars program as well but I want to change my major.
How do I do this and when should I? On the application, my 'Intended Major' was biological sciences: physiology and neurobiology and since it was an LEP I put my 'Alternate Major' as Kinesiology, which is what I want to change it to now. The online acceptance letter said:
Major: LETTERS AND SCIENCES
Advising College: LETTERS AND SCIENCES
Does that mean I that my major is actually biology or is it the kinesiology??

ps. Kinesiology is in the school of Public Health

You were admitted to the College of Letters and Sciences, with all the other students who were not admitted to their desired school or college, e.g., School of Public Health (Kinesiology) or Computer, Math and Natural Sciences (Bio Sciences). You’ll get your advising at Letters and Sciences. You are not a major in anything at the moment because you were not admitted to your preferred college, CMNS. You’ll have to apply for admission to the School of Public Health thru an internal transfer. More info on that here:

@jkeil911 Can you tell me little more about this process? Like when do I do all of this? Is it a tedious process? How long will it take? Will me being in letter and sciences affect me majoring in kinesiology? if so, how?
p.s sorry if this is a lot

I’m sorry that I’m not familiar with internal transfers to SPH. Each school at UMD seems to have its own procedures for internal transfers. You might contact SPH on Monday. I did find this:

Questions regarding the Change of Major Processs should be directed to the SPH Student Service Center at 301-405-2357 or sphadvising@umd.edu.

@jkeil911 thanks for your help! :)

It’s always nice to help the polite posters, terp2018. Good luck with your transfer.
