I chose Food Science as my major but I am planning to pursue a medical related career. I want to change it to Biochemistry but because they are different colleges, I am kind of scared my major change will not get accepted.
Is there a good chance of being granted a major change like this?
If so, how long does it take to change majors like that?
You can’t initiate the process until you’ve been at Cal Poly for at least 1 quarter. Then, part of the process is determining if you would have been accepted to the destination major in the first place. Food science was projected to accept 91% of its applicants. Biochemistry…16%. That will be a real uphill battle unless your grades, test scores, class rigor and ECs were all FAR above the applicant average for food science.
