changing majors

My d. doesn't post here but wanted me to ask about changing majors. She had originally picked education but is now thinking of changing to a double major of hist and environmental science and getting her teaching certif. after she graduates. Shoud she tell them now or wait till orientation? If she got a scholarship in the meantime form the deucation dept., does she have to give it back if she changes?

marylandgirl,

If she got a scholarship from the Education Department, she WILL have to give it back. Departmental scholarships are only for those majoring in that course of study.

I changed majors after 2 years, so the process for me is probably much different.

What I had to do was create a degree plan, outlining the entre coursework for the next 2 years I'm going to take. Once that was approved by the department who controls the major I'm transferring into, I was accepted as that major.

Most of the time students will change their major throughout college. College is another place to experience things. As long as she is serious, let here make her decisions because she is an adult.
