I wasn't planning on going to Ithaca so I was not that concerned when I wasn't accepted into my first choice major but I have a pretty strong gut feeling I am about to get rejected from my first and second choice school so I'm starting to reconsider. Does anyone know if it is difficult to transfer majors? Would I have to wait until I enrolled or after a few semesters etc? I applied for Film/TV and was accepted into Politics, ideally I would like to either double major in both or major in Film, minor in Politics. Also, Ithaca is the only college I haven't visited, would seeing it help give me an idea if I'd like it?

same thing with me! i was accepted to exploratory, not cinema and photography. but now i'm thinking of doing organizational comm. i called ithaca and they said it WOULD be difficult to transfer to the park school, you would need a gpa "as close to 4.0 as possible." she also recommended applying for a transfer at the end of your first semester.

i would definitely visit, get a tour, etc. i'm about to do an overnight visit. seeing the campus is really helpful since you can ask yourself "hm can i see myself here?" it's very beautiful too.

I think I'm going to go ahead and play it by ear, I'm trying to take this whole experience as "divine intervention". I was starting to think film might not be right for me anyways, I wonder if it's hard to get into film classes? I really do want to go to Ithaca so I think I'm just going to go and play it by ear.

I'm visiting next week so I'm really excited, I've heard it's so beautiful!

It's really hard to transfer into Park at Ithaca. You'll need to do real well.

I'm an exploratory student currently, and four of my good friends applied at the end of our freshman year to get into Park, one for TVR and the other three for C&P. C&P is significantly harder to get into, whereas TVR is one of the more accessible majors. You need a high GPA, and should probably see if you can get into some Park classes (if you can, they're had to swing if you're not in the department). Also, there are a few things up here that are film-related that you could be involved in. One of my friends won a film fest up here, and it probably really helped his chances. Overall, it's not easy, but not impossible to transfer into Park.

TVR? C&P? what are these. I'm not up on all the abbreviations
