changing majors

Hey all, I have anotehr question. Is there a way to change your proposed major online on myucsc.edu? I thought I was undeclared but I guess before I chose a major. Is there a way to make it undeclared?

Thanks so much!

As far as I know, everyone who is admitted to UCSC outside of the college of engineering starts out as pre-______. You can only declare your major once you take specific classes toward your major and get a sufficient GPA in prerequisite courses, usually a 2.8+.

So in other words, it doesn’t matter what your major is right now unless the classes you want to take require you to be a pre-art or pre-music major etc. You just take classes towards whatever major you would like to move towards and then declare it once you meet the requirements.

Oh really? That’s a relief because I was scared for a moment. Thank you so much.

But is there a way to change what it says on my profile?

I’m not sure. You can fool around with it. I am pretty sure you could change your proposed major online last year but I dunno about this year.

I know you could change it back in… may-ish? But around late may early june the link just… disappeared.

Since my major on the site isn’t the right one, should I tell them? Or should I just wait till I know exactly what major I want to do?

I’m not sure why you are so worried about changing your major online? Are you having trouble signing up for restricted classes?

Just email your counselor if you want it changed.
