I started attend community college in CA in 2007 mainly for enrichment purposes - basically general education classes. As time progressed I realized that the classes i took could actually lead to an A.A. degree so I continued classes with that particular objective in mind. Of all the A.A. degrees offered at the college, I chose to pursue an A.A. in Small business management. I've been very careful in choosing G.E. requirements that are transferable within the California State University system but I've had a DRASTIC change of what I want to pursue my bachelors in, which is Dance. My question is is it possible for me to complete my A.A. in small business management then transfer to a Cal State and change my major to dance?

While usually it’s pretty easy to switch majors after 2 years since you’re mostly completing core requirements, business and dance are very different, so I don’t want to give you misinformation.

I think you should address this question to your CC counselor or a counselor at one of the Cal States that you’re thinking of transferring to. For specifics about college requirements, you should really go to the primary source, the college website or administrators at the college. Forums like CC are great for discussing ideas and experiences, but you always want to confirm specific information with your college.

Good luck!
