Changing Majors

I was wondering, if it's possible to change your major after you get admitted. For example, if I apply as wanting to be a Chemistry major, is it possible to change to another major once I'm admitted?

Thanks in advance!

Stanford does not make you declare until the end of your sophomore year. I think you might just indicate area of interest on the application. I’m not sure since I did not read our D’s entire application, just the essays. You should probably check this information on their website.

Stanford doesn’t care what you put down on your application for your intended major. The admissions officers will note it and then move on with the rest.

Yeah, you don’t declare a major on the application. You put that your main interest right now is chemistry, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to necessarily be your major.

yes, one of the great things about stanford is that once you’re in, you can major/minor/do whatever the hell you want!

I think I wrote “Econ” as my major when I applied. Freshman year, I was at different points Psychology, Human Biology, and Computer Science. I wound up majoring in Symbolic Systems, which I declared halfway through my sophomore year. Stanford is pretty good about giving you a long time to choose your major.
