I was recently admitted to Cal Poly SLO as an Agricultural Science major (I wanted to make sure I got in with my mediocre GPA). I want to switch into ME and I’ve already read the minimum requirements at http://www.eadvise.calpoly.edu/dept/memajor.php. I don’t know how hard the classes are (to keep a 2.75) or how much switching will put me behind. Does anyone have any tips, info, or advice concerning switching into the College of Engineering (specifically ME)? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, Pretty much not going to happen. Especially since it's outside of the college of AG. good luck to you

If you have a good gpa, it's certainly possible. ME classes are pretty tough, tho.

would it be hard to change from say architectural engineering to just regular architecture since they are pretty closely related?

I did the same exact thing, I changed my major from AG science to Electrical Engineering in 2 years. I even didnt make the minimum requirments. After finishing the courses they wanted me to take i didnt make the 2.5 GPA they wanted in THOSE courses. I was given a chance to take one more quarter to get a 2.5 in whatever engineering courses i wanted, and then I switched to ee over the christmas break that just passed. But now I want to go to UCLA oR UCSD. I have a calpoly cum of 2.72 and I am a 3rd year. I am thinking of going to community college and then signing a transfer agreement or something.

Why do you want to transfer out...better programs for engineering there?

Poly actually has a better engineering rep, per peer assessment scores.

How many Ag classes did you have to take and why did you wait so long? How can you get into UCLA with a 2.72? Just wondering if your way is the EASY way?
