Admission happens as an out of state student and applicable fees will be out of state. If parents move their residence along with the child to the same state as the school and live there for the next 3 years, will the status change to instate, starting the sophomore year, for the next 3yrs?

It can. States have very specific rules so you have to check the school/state you are interested in.

Google residency and the college name. Then call the FA dept for further info.

Thank you.

Calif UCs may require two years.

Depends on the college.

Some colleges do not change your residency. If you are admitted OOS, you remain so.

Some colleges require parent residency for a year before instate status change will be considered.

Some colleges require two year residency before instate status change will be considered.

As noted above…check each school. And then double check.
