<p>I was wondering that if you get accepted to a school for their PhD program, is it possible to change that into an MS admission (before starting school)?</p>
<p>It’s likely you’ll lose any sort of funding offer you’d have been given, but I imagine if the school does take MS students they’d do it.</p>
<p>If the school does a terminal MS program, then likely you would be able to. They are sure to ask why, though.</p>
<p>Though it’s a bit disingenuous, you might consider continuing as if you wanted a ph.d, then “mastering out” after quals. That’s a pretty common scenario, especially for some high pressure programs, and it would mean that you’d keep your funding. Again, I’m not saying it’s particularly ethical…</p>
