I’m on the sixth floor of Mayer next year in a triple, and I’m not too excited about it. Everyone tells me I’m lucky because I have an large, quiet apartment with my own bathroom, kitchen, closets, etc, but I think I’d rather be around more freshmen in Stouffer Hall, the Quad, or maybe even Hill…

How hard is it to change rooms? Is it virtually impossible to move into the Quad? Does anyone know how Stouffer Hall is?

Well while Mayer doesn't necessarily sound like the most attractive option now, I've heard it is the nicest place to live on campus. In fact, it's incredibly hard to get a room there if you didn't get one as a freshman, simply because once you room there, you never leave.

I'm hoping I can trade it w/ someone when I get there. It's a great room, but it might not be the best for me. I'd prefer a communal shower since I don't want to clean my own bathroom, I don't cook, and I really don't have any belongings to fill all that space with. Plus, I'd just rather be around more frosh.

Well I guess the plus is that you will have a very marketable room to trade for the Quad if that is your desire!! I mean you could be trying to trade a crappy room and then I'd say good luck. I think you will be successful.

Mayer is a pretty nice building. It's not full of frosh like the quad or hill, but it has plenty, and I know plenty of frosh who enjoyed it. The rooms are also very nice.

Definitely don't go to Stouffer... it's almost all upperclassmen and the place is totally dead. Hill is pretty nice in terms of the sense of community, but that's about it... the facilities are the worst (smallest rooms, no A/C, no sink, no carpeting, extremely dirty, etc).

I knew a few people who were freshman in Mayer last year (I was in Hill) and liked it quite a lot. They were from philly though, so i imainge they felt less cloistered than someone from outside the area would. I'd really reconsider the idea of changing rooms, you might be kicking yourself next year.

i lived in mayer as a freshman last year. the entire 6th floor is freshmen, and half of the 5th floor as well (healthy living). believe me, you won't want to be in stouffer. it's BEAT, even compared to mayer. trust me, you'll enjoy mayer a lot. plus, after freshman year, you only have 2 people per room, not 3.

Demand meets Supply.. You guys should get toghether and do the switch because Hill does have a lot of FROSH and despite the fact that he wants the Quad this could help you both.
