Changing schools after acceptance?

I was recently accepted to Pitt's school of Arts and Sciences as an undecided major. I realized that I really want into their Engineering program, and am wondering if anyone knows about possibly contacting admissions and asking to be considered for the E School. Let me know.

-Pitt class of 2013!

My daughter thought of doing the exact same thing last year - she was accepted into A&S and was thinking of changing to Engineering. When she inquired, she was informed that she would have to withdraw her acceptance into A&S and resubmit her application into the engineering school. I'm not sure how late in the acceptance cycle she asked about this, but she decided against doing so. I would strongly advise you to call the School of Engineering and ask directly - no one here can advise you as to exactly what might happen in your situation. My daughter's experience may well not be the same as yours.

you'll be fine. you need to get a new advisor though, involves signing a couple forms...and drop your current a&s classes (assuming you are registered from pittstart) and enroll in the engr ones.

My son did the same thing. He originally applied to arts and sciences thinking he would be a bio major. After attending an accepted student day he decided to reapply to the school of engineering. This was before he accepted admission.

We had called ofa and he had been instructed to send an e-mail requesting to be considered for admission to engineering. Shortly after he received another envelope in the mail with Congratulations on it. I would call ofa asap and ask what procedure you need to follow to reapply to engineering. Last year, all my s did was send an e-mail. You won't pick classes until the spring or summer if you are applying for Fall 09

haha go for the engineering school!

cause that's where I might be next year
