I know that the website says that the SUNet ID is permanent, but I'm stuck with the one that I made 3 years ago when I went to the Stanford Summer Session my sophomore year in high school. I didn't think that they would just keep it in their system and reuse it when I applied my senior year...

Does anyone know of a way to change the ID?

There is a way...but it involves a ton of paperwork and bureaucracy. Also, you must have a truly valid reason for doing so (i.e. it's inappropriate or vulgar)

yeah, I emailed them and they said it wouldn't be possible for me to change it.

But I think the alias thing will work out fine. And there is a way to change your options so that your outgoing mail is labeled from your alias, not your main SUNet ID.

a SUNet ID is your Stanford University Network username (for your email address, for your grades, for logging into anything stanford.edu related). It's important that you make it look professional because your ID stays with you forever. However, this isn't relevant until you send in your deposit and officially enroll at Stanford.

Is there any reason that you are going through only old threads?

Is there really no way to change it? I set mine up not knowing it was permanent and that it would be used for everything, I'd really like to make it something different... there's no way?
