Changing TO an engineering major from a non-engineer major

Hey guys, so I posted this on the UC Davis forum, but now that i got into UCSD by divine intervention, i would like to get some feedback from UCSD students.

I just got accepted as an Applied Mathematics major at Revelle.

Since I'm inbetween 3 or 4 other schools, I want to be sure that I can get into the major of my choice. I want to change my major to Civil Engineering. From what I hear, it's a bit complex and difficult to change BEFORE the fall quarter starts, but once you start classes, it's easy as long as you finish a couple of classes and do well. Is this accurate?

Advice from current students would be great. Especially those that are in the engineering department, or have transferred into the engineering department themselves. Any other help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Don't think there's a civil engineering major here, thought there is a structural engineering major. For that, you can just switch to it on tritonlink.
For future refrerence:

for all your questions on majors and such

Is it really that easy to switch majors? I thought there was an extremely difficult process.

There is no civil engineering major.

You can switch into any engineering major except for bioengineering.

catalog.ucsd.edu

process not difficult at all unless your switching to an impacted major.

hmm, by the looks of it, i have to enroll first? i can't request a change right now?

civil engineering is structural engineering, which the school has btw

is it easy to switch OUT of an impacted major? i'm bioeng pre-med and i am not 100% sure i want to do this. can i change my mind yr 2 or 3?
