Hi my friend wants to go to ucf but her transcript from high school is bad but her college one is great. She got into san diego because she applied as a transfer from a community college & that college doesn't care if you have a ged or diploma, thats how she got in. I currently go to san diego state university with her but she would like to transfer to UCF. She has some bad grades on her transcript from high school & she wants to edit it & change them. Also for her high school exit exams at she passed 3 of 4. On the transcript it says failed for the math portion & she wants to put passed. At our old high school you have to pass all 4 exams to get your diploma & she only passed 3/4 & she still got the diploma (its real too from our actual schools graduation I saw her receive it on stage) so she thinks that if shows the diploma to ucf that she will be able to get accepted by proving that the she has it if she doesn't edit the transcript. On the other hand she thinks that if she does edit the transcript & still shows the diploma everything will be ok. I love san diego state but she doesn't so she wants to transfer, but I also don't want her to get in trouble by jeopardizing her academic & life career by doing this. I know I can't stop her though, she won't listen but I'm scared that if she gets caught everything will go wrong because this seems to be illegal & she might go to jail/prison for using her photoshop program on her transcript to change a few things. She thinks that she wont get caught because she is very good at photoshop & she can make anything look real, but I think that UCF might wanna verify everything & call the high school, so she will get caught maybe. Yes the diploma actually says "diploma" not certificate of attendance, so its real. She only has 15 hrs of credit, 2 from the community college & 3 from san diego. It was the schools mistake by giving her the diploma though, I don't even think the school knows that she has it. They might now though since the graduation was in 2010. She is scared because she thinks ucf will make her send the high school transcript in also with the college transcripts since she has less than 30 hrs so thats why she wants to edit it. What should I do to find a way to help her stop? Everything else i've tried didn't work I wanna stop her before she sends everything in to them in a few days or I atleast need to convince her to not go through this just to get into UCF, but that is her dream school.

I definitely would NOT suggest that she try to “photoshop” or try to tamper with her transcripts because she could get in A LOT of trouble behind it. That’s not something “small” like when you try to change an F to an A on a report card and the only consequence may be suspension or whatever. I understand UCF is her dream school, but if she gets caught tampering with her transcript, that’s all UCF will be to her; a dream and she’ll be in jail or paying fines.

Convince her to finish at her current school and get her A.A. so that there won’t be anything stopping her (like grades, etc from HS) from getting into UCF, or applying when she has more credits. If she wants to apply now, she’ll need to send in ALL of her HS information (transcripts & any ACT/SAT scores) AND her decision would be based on the Freshman profile which is a lot more strict than the Transfer profile.

If she applies after she’s earned over 45 credits and has a competitive GPA she may have a good chance at getting accepted THEN, or the admissions office will defer her until she receives her A.A. and then she’ll be able to attend, hopefully.

ok i hope this will help her do the right thing

Good luck : ) Hope everything works out.
