How difficult is it to change majors once admitted to sdsu as a transfer? For example, being admitted through TAG and then switching to business major after a semester? Some grossmont counselors and sdsu staff have told me that even if I were to meet the impaction criteria for my new potential major, I still would likely be denied the major change just because I am a transfer- and they don’t “encourage” that route. On the other hand, some students have told me that its all just a scare-tactic and switching upper division majors is easy even for transfers. So do any transfers have experience switching majors?
Thanks
From the SDSU website:
You must choose a major when you apply to SDSU. All majors are competitive, meaning every major has more applicants than available slots (the CSU calls this impaction). Transfer students are admitted based on their intended major for a bachelor’s degree at SDSU. Therefore, you will not be able to change your major as an applicant or admitted student.
Call admissions for the definitive answer.
