I submitted my supplement via commonapp and indicated the school I wished to attend. I now want to change the schools. How do I go about doing this?

Also, is the school you check the school you will attend if and when you are admitted? What about the major? Does applying to one school over another yield better chances of getting in?

You can call NYU Undergraduate Admissions and inform them of the school/major change. From my understanding, this should not be a problem as they do not begin to review applications after the deadline.

The school you select on your application is the school you will be admitted for and thus you are constained to take courses within that school's requirements.

Now, the major you choose can always be changed, but only within the majors of the school you are admitted to. If you decide to change your school/major in the entirety during a semester, you would have to re-apply as an internal transfer.

Applying to one school over another, will certainly yield better chances of getting in. However, ultimately it also depends on the individual's talents and what he/she has done in his/her life.

Well I'd like to change my school to the Gallatin school for individualized study. I've had an internship at the metropolitan museum of art this past summer, and I'm interning for Conde Nast which is the company that publishes Vogue, GQ, Elle, etc. I got recs sent in from my boss and very important people in the fashion business and they said my internship position has a lot of opportunity for promotion, so I guess I have good EC/talent. My GPA and SATs are in like the 50th percentile for NYU (3.4, 1360)

I heard gallatin is really hard to get into. is this true?

you'de have to change your last personal response q as well. and gallatin is hard to get in to in the sense that they're looking for a specific type of student. your sat's are pretty good but your gpa is a tad low.
