Chapman Class of 2018 EA

Congratulations Daddyeo on your D’s acceptance into Dodge College Film Production major! With only around 12% acceptance rate this is a very selective program that she has been admitted to.
Regarding your questions on deciding which university that your D (or for others admitted Chapman U students) should attend I wanted to let you know since you are new to College Confidential (CC) that this site is an excellent source of such information. If you scroll through the CC threads under Chapman University (there are 37 pages of threads) or by using the CC search engine you will find a wealth of information that others have shared in the past. I just quickly went through a couple of pages of threads and found the following threads for example that may be of use to you:

All the best to your D as she enters this exciting phase of her life.

sukahjoy: Thank you for the links. I had found many of them and your own contributions from them as well. I found it very useful and insightful. Was just curious of any thoughts from this year’s group. Thanks again. I am sure others will benefit as well.

Has anyone who had their first semester senior grades requested heard back yet?

Has anyone who was admitted early received a financial aid packet yet?

xcrunnermom - when we visited the campus Feb 19th, we were told financial packages would be sent in about 3 weeks. We might be seeing them within the next week depending how far the mail has to travel.

On the Chapman U Office of Admission’s Tumblr website yesterday (Sunday March 9th) the following two questions were asked and answered regarding Financial Aid:

Question #1: When are financial aid packets coming out?
Answer #1: If you were accepted Early Action, they should go out sometime this week.

Question #2: When will RD applicants receive Financial Aid information?
Answer #2: Probably by the end of this month thru beginning of April.

Good luck to all of you who are waiting for a thick envelope!

Does anyone know how hard it is to get into BU’s program compared to Chapman’s? BU also made the top 25 film programs list. BU in general was very competitive this year, but I’m not sure about the Communications school where the film program is. My daughter got rejected at Chapman, but got into BU. I’m thinking the difference might have been that Chapman asked for a film and BU did not. Her essays were very good for both schools. Her film was quite good, but many of the other students films we saw looked very professional. Guessing that’s the difference.

Just found out she got Wait Listed at NYU. Surprising since she didn’t even get that at Chapman. You never know.

BigMamaBear- Hello again. We chatted around Christmas Eve. after my son was accepted into the Screenwriting Program Dodge and was awarded a Dean’s Scholarship. Well, I can finally tell you that Chapman was absolutely his top choice, and he confirmed his admission and filled out the dorm/roommate questionnaire today! So thrilled for him and all of you new admits!

Is anyone here a student or parent of a student who went to the Summer Film academy in 2013?

MovieScriptMom - Congratulations to your son, and you! My son too committed to Chapman early this month and we’ve paid the housing deposit, but he has yet to fill in the housing questionnaire. See you at Orientation?

What a great Preview Day! Our D was accepted with Dean’s Award, and after this weekend decided to attend!! She is so excited. Thanks to all in the admission’s office for creating such a great experience for all of the potential students. Looking forward d to being a Chapman Parent

US News also released their ranking of the 2014 Best High Schools in US today.

Good to know. My D made her decision to attend Chapman today!

No BigMamaBear. Son’s not attending the orientation, however it would have been nice for him to meet other students. Instead, we opted for spending $5,000.00 last week on a new mac laptop, hardware accessories, final cut pro, final draft pro, etc., So unfortunately another trip to CA just wasn’t in the cards at this time. The orientation was today right? How did it go?

Congrats to your dtr. Mrs. Soffel!!

Thank you! When is orientation?
