Same here! I got in with biochem.
Same
Financial Aid came today. Had noticed it was posted in the portal yesterday as well.
Does anyone know when Film Production students will get an answer?
got in for bio and got deans scholar
got into dodge film production (emphasis in cinematography) with a 25k scholarship
@annonuser57389 Congratulations! If you don’t mind, what what were your scores/gpa etc? Son wait-listed for same program. Also, does anyone know about how many students are wait-listed per year?
- GPA: 4.3
- ACT: 36E, 34R, 33 S, 29M / 32 Composite / 33 Composite Superscore
-7/10 of my activities in common app were film production related, which I think was a big part of my application. I interned with 2 different production companies and started my own cinematography business that has made over 10k in revenue over the past 2 years. I showed dedication to film making throughout all 4 years of high school, which Chapman looks for.
I also know chapman puts a huge emphasis on your visual supplement. It is probably the biggest factor in admissions. here is a link to mine:
@annonuser57389 Excellent supplement! Thanks for the stats and explanation. Very helpful insight! Congratulations again.
Yeah film production is all about the creative part–the supplemental questions/essays, creative resume & film. They are also trying to balance the class between directors, cinematographers, editors, sound designers and production designers so that factors in as well–which one you discussed in that question. I think the wait list admits will depend on that too, which emphasis have more students enrolling.
Chapman clears the kids to see if they meet school minimums, but then Dodge doesn’t even look at the academics, only the supplements. DS got in with a far lower SAT score than average Chapman student (1060). 3.8 GPA (UW) but lots of dual enrollment courses, I don’t know if they weight those, his HS doesn’t. But like the poster above he has been committed to film related activities sine a young age. His school didn’t have any opportunities, but he made his own.
Congrats @annonuser57389 we watched your supplement last fall and liked it!
Here is my son’s:
Congrats @annonuser57389 Are the scholarships in the acceptance letter or somewhere else? My daughter was admitted to film production but the letter doesn’t include anything about scholarships.
@filmmomvt according to the Chapman admissions tumblr the merit scholarships are included with the acceptance. The other financial aid comes later.
So… the scholarship was in a separate letter linked at the bottom of the acceptance. D got Dean’s scholarship for 18K per year. So happy. Stats were: 1420 SATs and GPA equal to a 3.4 UW, but went to a high school outside the US, and has already graduated.
Talk with your students admin counselor. My D committed to chapman with presidents scholarship for exercise science, she plans to go to med school. She is very excited! Loved chapman the moment she stepped on campus 2 years ago. She also plans to swim for chapman.
Does anyone know how many students are accepted per year to each of the different programs at Dodge?
@ArtMom69 Film production admits aprox 70 students. Creative Producing is about 30. I don’t know abut the other majors, but in all there are approximately 1200 undergrads at Dodge for all the programs, about 300 per class for these majors–
B.F.A. Creative Producing
B.F.A. Film Production
B.A. Film Studies
B.F.A. Screenwriting
B.F.A. Screen Acting
B.F.A. Television Writing and Production
Media Arts
B.A. Public Relations and Advertising
B.F.A. Digital Arts - Animation and Visual Effects
B.F.A. Broadcast Journalism and Documentary
Thank you @jss9395 ! We went to visit the school yesterday and my daughter really loves Chapman. I think this is going to be her choice. She was accepted in the Digital Arts- Animation and Visual Effects program.
Congrats! My daughter is a junior there in Creative Producing and my son will be attending as a freshman in the fall for Film Production. I can’t say enough good things about our experience!
@jss9395 Congrats to your son too!!!
I was denied for EA film production, but told to apply for consideration of second choice major for screenwriting. I had listed undeclared as my second choice major, and was wondering if anyone has any insight on why I would be offered consideration for screenwriting? Also, when do regular decisions come out?
