Chapman early action

Hey does anyone know when we will be hearing from Chapman if we applied early action? The website said they start sending letters around Jan. 10th on a rolling bases, but when I called they said we should here back before Jan.15th, on college board it also says that the deadline for Chapman to notify students of early action is Jan.10th. Anyone know or received any letters yet?
Thanks!

Not yet, but if you do get in, webadvisor will reflect that with a status of “admission approved”.
I’m just crossing fingers for jan 10th…

i really hope i get in!! =)
its such a great school and i kinda feel that by the time my kids are applying to college’s its going to be like USC.
all my friends parents who went to usc all were like " when i was applying to usc all you had to do was press submit on ur app and u were accepted, or pay haha!"
chapman has been getting so difficult to get into i think mainly because all the kids who want to go to USC and dont get in, go there!

^ Sheesh you’re scaring me man. I’m applying to USC and Chapman haha. I was hoping it was gonna be basically a safety for me =/

haha noooo i totally didnt mean to scare you LOL! , but if you have the grades to get into USC im pretty sure your getting into chapman. I called today bc i had a question about my app and they were like “letters will typically go out the 10th, but we have had a very large amount of applicants this year so it may take longer” … this was exactly what i didnt want to hear!!!

does it mean i was deferred if it says on status of my app “roll to regular decision”

Yes it does- which still means you have a chance!

^ is correct. Good luck!

ugh such a bummer, at least im not completely out of the running.
im a little surprised ( not that im trying to brag or anything), but was in range and my high school has in the past had a pretty large amount of students go to and be accepted to chapman each year, i called chapman last week to ask when decision’s were going out and they said soon it might take a little longer bc they had a LARGE amount of applicants this year, guess they were right! oh well ill hope for the regular admissions!

what were your stats and major?

3.2
1600 SAT
550 for the lit subject test
510 for the US history subject test
I applied to their education department majoring in elementary school education with a letter of rec from the pre school that i worked at all summer ( so i have had experience in the teaching field)

I live in northern CA, I am Cuban.
Captain and founder of a major club and club sport at my school.
I have been horseback riding for 11 years.
Acting for 4 years.

Umm, not sure what else you want to know lol.
I know my grades arent great, but according to their profile and the profile of the kids accepted from my school last year i was RIGHT in the range, so who knows, hopefully I’ll get accepted regular.
Anything else you feel might be useful to know let me know.

FYI Chapman Early Action is notified starting on Jan. 10 then ROLLING basis afterwards, so don’t freak out if you don’t know yet!

hjsa, i’m a little surprised you didn’t too…
best of luck for reg decision!

hjsami01 - my status changed to the same exact response as yours and i thought i got deferred as well but i was told by an athletic coach at chapman that it doesn’t i was accepted or denied but that it just prolongs the decision and will be determined with the regular admission applicants. if it was a true ‘deferred’ then it would say requests fall grades and new test scores, something along that line. alot of people told me on here its deferred also but it isn’t.

hope that helps! good luck

what does this mean…
“Fall Term Grades Requested”

does it mean i am deferred?

Madseckel, “prolongs the decision and will be determined with the regular admission applicants” is exactly what the term 'deferred" means in this context. Those EA applicants who are deferred are instead evaluated once all of the regular-decision applications are in. Many who are deferred are in fact asked for 7th semester grades, but that’s a separate consideration. “Deferred” means “delayed for later action.” That’s all it means.

NYYanks: In effect it does; however, it could be that you will hear more quickly than at least some of the regular-decision people. You need to submit your fall transcripts, and as soon as you do that, Chapman will have everything necessary to render a decision. That could theoretically come quickly, or it may just come at the same time as those for the regular applicants.

My status says “Decision Pending”, what does that mean!? On WebAdvisor, it means “they recently made a decision”…

BUT I ordered reports for my best tests for the SAT/ACT in December, and they still aren’t in my Test Scores records.

This whole process is making me so nervous…

decision pending just means that they have all of the necessary information, so they could look at your file and make a decision anytime now.

In regards to the test scores, I went through the same thing. It took over a month for them to get my test scores. Chapman only recieves test scores via snail mail, so it takes at least two weeks longer than other schools who recieve them electronically. Also, since there are so many people sending stuff in, the office gets backed up and it takes them awhile to get all of the scores. It happened to me, and it was really stressful, but they finally got all of my test scores, so you probably just have to wait a little bit longer…

@director Thanks for the clarification!

Hopefully at worst i’ll be deferred, once i get my fall semester grades in. I really hope to get accepted though!
