@hopethisworks33 This is definitely the same issue I am trying to figure out how to deal with right now. Dodge is my number one and so I am reluctant to make any decisions on the other colleges that need it by May 1st. So far I have just been wading it out, hopeful that I will get a decision from Dodge soon but I find that it is more likely that a decision will be made in May. Sooo…I think that the only other possibility is to contact the other schools and ask to postpone their deadline. I hate to do it…but i dont think there is any other choice besides making a deposit and then loosing it if I get an acceptance from Chapman.

Also got admitted today! I turned in my app the day of the deadline and finally heard back. Major is business admin, transfer from a community college with 60+ units and 3.9 GPA.

@Schroeds I agree. I’ll probably wait it out until the last week or so to see if I can postpone it. I was considering asking the other college in person when I visit April 30th, but I’m afraid that would probably be too late. Also, I’ve heard that making a deposit at one college and then at another can make both of them reject you, so I’m not sure if making a deposit at that college would be advisable either :/

And congratulations alaintran9!

@hopethisworks33 Yeah, I’ll probably wade it out as long as I can. April 30th might be too late Making a deposit on another school definitely doesn’t seem like a good idea, i agree. I just hope that I find out a decision soon! What did you apply for at dodge?

I just got my packet today!
Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.1

Hey transfers! I was one last year, so congrats on getting in Chapman is AWESOME! MY roommate and I are looking for another female roommate for next year! We’re super chill, I promise! Message me if you are interested. Dodge students, don’t worry my decision didn’t come till the last week of May last year!

See y’all next year!

@kayvuvu Congratulations! (Psych is awesome; it was actually my first major :D)

@Schroeds Screenwriting, hbu?

And thanks for the heads up, charwright13! -seriously though, the last week of May :’( ohhh boy

@hopethisworks33 Same!

Congratulations !!! I’m still waiting for a decision…

Congrats to all the recent admits! Guess us Dodge applicants have to hunker down for awhile. Need to stop checking WebAdvisor twice a day. :P

Thanks guys! I was just wondering if my gpa will start all over again when I enroll this fall. I know the UC system gives you a clean slate but I’m a little worried that Chapman will keep my low gpa.

Congrats everyone, I got my packet today too! Strategic & Corporate Communications GPA 3.56. So relieved as this was the only school I applied for

@Schroeds Awesome! Did you apply for screenwriting at the other school(s) too? And, just cuz I’m curious, do you like to write one specific genre or does your writing vary? Also, for the supplement did you take up the entire two pages for the writing prompt, or did you have extra room? (I promise, we’re not actually playing 20 questions.)

@lebasi529 Congrats!

@hopethisworks33 Haha I’m curious just like you about other screenwriting applicants! I didn’t apply specifically into screenwriting for the other schools. They more of had a minor in screenwriting and major in cinematic production. I don’t really write to just one specific genre, I pretty much write anything! I do tend to lean toward the more “fantasy” side however. And, I took up almost the entire 2 pages but it wasn’t on purpose it just happened to be that way. How about you to all the above?

@lolo123, my portal said decision reached on April 1st, and I received my acceptance packet on April 5th.

anyone with decision pending, date “as of” hasn’t changed since the 8th.
i bet they’re just starting mine since they informed me to get a midterm report.

@Schroeds I ended up applying just for screenwriting at a couple others, and I figured I might look into a minor in directing or production. And my writing varies, I guess. While my longer pieces tend to happen in the “real” world with supernatural elements, a lot of the shorter pieces I’ve written have been more action/drama/dramedy types of things. I guess the main qualities all of my work share is mindscrewiness and social issues And my supplement ended up being exactly two pages. I planned for too much to happen in too little space But it was still pretty fun to write, and I think I might expand on it when I get the chance.

I just looked up the screenwriting professors’ imdbs yesterday, and if I get into this school I’m going to be so excited! The professors have tons of experience and one of them is even writing for one of my favorite shows.

Question: have you visited Dodge by any chance? I’m visiting in early May, so I’ll probably comment on the thread about what I find, but if you’ve visited I’d love to hear your input!

@hopethisworks33 I had a lot of fun with the supplement and at first I had too much planned for just two pages but i managed to get it to work. I also want to expand on it as well!
I have visited Dodge, I went in August and I have to say it will make you want to go there even more. I found out about Chapman and felt like it was the right match for me but going seemed to confirm it even more. They talk about the professors and the work that you do (The “eliteness” of the professors excites me too) and they even showed a room just for screenwriters where they all sit around a long desk and brainstorm. The building itself is pretty amazing.
Which professor for what TV Show? (Hearing these kinds of things makes me so excited)

@Schroeds Wow, Dodge sounds great, and the brainstorming room sounds so much fun! The professor’s Brad Buckner and he writes for Supernatural.

I got a change to Decision Reached. I wish they just told you. Shrug.
