For those that have been accepted, has anyone gotten an email to set up their panther account with their Chapman email? Has anyone gotten their mail packet with FinAid info? And have you guys accepted your admission/what happens after you accept it?
@90smix, thanks for the heads up on checking the bottom of the admissions letter. My son was admitted and got 14K a year Trustee scholar. He’s still waiting on any music scholarship (BM in Strings Performance) and need-based aid, but it’s a start!
@screenname2019 i got the email with my chapman email but no password and havent got the packet yet
@screenname2019 @ilovechicken1236 the packet should get there within 2-3 weeks IF you submitted your FAFSA on time (mine was received exactly 1 month after submission). I paid my deposits last night, all that happened was I received a receipt of payment. The email info should come by the 29th (if you don’t receive it before don’t worry it’s because they’re gearing up for spring break, but if it’s the 29th then call the technology services desk). Your username will be in that and I’m assuming you create your own password. But yeah, packet is usually 2-3 weeks after admission they said. I live down the street so I’m hoping 2 not 3 weeks but we’ll see.
Ugh I can’t wait that long… I need to make decisions for other schools. I still haven’t gotten my Chapman email! I wish they could just put financial aid info on our portal.
@screenname2019 what’s your deadline for deciding (for other schools)? And you can try the net calculator online, that thing is fairly accurate. I file independently but if you’re under 24 just input your parents info and you should have a relatively accurate answer
what is the deadline for accepting/denying admission? I have to let Cal state know by May 1.
My circumstance is a little different. It’s for cc. I already did the net price calculator but can’t just go off that.
@screenname2019 they have a transfer net calculator. I’m coming from a CC and used that, and based off of the numbers I filed on my taxes my accountant and counselor said it’s most likely fairly accurate. The only thing it isn’t fully accurate for is scholarships.
Edit: Oh wait, are you coming from a 4 year? In that case, do you have to decide within the next 2-3 weeks? I thought most schools just need a decision by May or June.
@jakecap1123 I think it’s June 1 I would call or ask them what they recommend doing in that situation. Although if you’re not in a creative major I really doubt you’d go without a decision by May 1.
I just got my packet in the mail. Same thing that was linked on the portal. No FinAid info tho. Dammit.
@screenname2019 look at their post on their tumblr. You get it separately, 2-3 weeks after admission usually.
Ya I saw that
Got my acceptance packet in the mail this morning
^ it came with my scholarship & FAFSA information like loans and stuff
@screenname2019 @90smix I’m surprised you got them together! Maybe you submitted everything earlier? I thought they were separate. I just got the acceptance but no FAFSA info but I did get a separate email from CalGrant this morning telling me how much I received from there
@acceptmeplz376 I think I submitted my FAFSA stuff around New Years so yeah xD
Wow, @acceptmeplz376, you heard from Cal Grant already? My son hasn’t heard a peep from any school regarding need-based aid. For Chapman, he only got 14K for Trustee’s, and I sure hope he’s getting both Cal Grant and some music scholarship; otherwise, Chapman is waaaaaay out of reach financially. Too bad because it’s his #1 school.
@sbjdorlo I submitted my FAFSA about a month ago, 3 1/2 weeks later I got an email from CalGrant saying I qualified for a transfer grant based on my income (I’m able to qualify as an independent in the eyes of FAFSA) and that I just needed to verify my GPA and what not. Took about 7-10 days to process but I got it within 5 business days that it was processed and got an email saying I got a preliminary award for a transfer entitlement grant. I was able to log in and see the tentative amount but it will for sure be sent to Chapman and I will go ahead and find out hopefully within 2-3 weeks if that amount was exact and other FAFSA info.
My transcripts were sent in late but application on time…do you think this hurts my chances at admission? Stuff was lost in the mail according to the USPS.
