Does anyone have any opinions or thoughts about the Loyola Film School vs. the Chapman Film School? Which is better? What programs within the respective film schools are better?

Any insight would be appreciated.

chapman is becoming one of the best film schools in the nation. well at least that's what i've been hearing from EVERYONE. nationwide, more ppl have heard of chapman than loyola. i applied to both and chapman is definitely the better one, by a long yard. in fact, chapman has not only more connections, but it also has BETTER connections.

hahaha. i hope i get into chapman, but i'll be okay with loyola.

I have been accepted to Chapman's screenwriting major and am pretty excited. I looked at LMU and considered it at great length, but it is not the atmosphere I want and does not have as much to offer as Chapman. LMU's student body is, from what I have read and been told, unmotivated and mostly interested in partying. Whereas Chapman students are a blend - there's those only concerned with partying, but also those who want to use these four years to be ready to get a good job.

Chapman's film program keeps growing in size and reputation. It definitely has more respect. LMU is not really growing - its film program is just there. Chapman film professors work hard to get connections and donations for new facilities, etc.

Thank you for the input, Hopeful. Your comments agree with what I have observed. My son was accepted by both and we plan to revisit both but he is leaning hard toward Chapman.

Chapman's film program is great. I worry about the generalizations being made about schools. Our daughter's friend is a student at Loyola and was an oustanding student in high school, continues to be at LMU, and is happy there, and finds it challenging, with a beautiful campus and close to all that L.A. has to offer! Our niece attends Chapman, and she is the ultimate rich, Newport party girl. There are examples of every "type" of student at both schools. My daughter loves Chapman and she is not a film major! (I have looked at both schools and have toured the Marion Knott Studio building at Chapman, and the truth is, were my child a film major, Chapman would win.)
