Lots of comments about the film school at Chapman. Anybody know much about the theatre dept. there? My D was just accepted as a Theatre major. She loves everything about Chapman but we just heard that the university won't be doing any Musical productions for the next 2 years due to budget cuts!? With all the money floating around that school, is the theatre dept. low on the priority list?

Also was told that scholarships are only offered to those who have applied for financial aid. That doesn't sound right.

My daughter was accepted at a handful of schools with great to good theatre/MT programs around the country, but chose Chapman for theatre...also because she wanted to stay in California. She has met a number of the faculty and students and brushed all other acceptances aside until she received her Chapman letter. Not a lot of details, but since she is a career theatre student and thoroughly researched and visited where she applied, I think that says a lot about this program.

Timely, how long after letters are out do they send out scholarship info?
Thanks

I think it was 2 weeks or less after the acceptance that the scholarship letter came. S received the Chancellor's scholarship which is $16,000/year. Some here have received the Presidential which is $21,000/year.

Golden, it sounds like your D is a great little actress! Maybe my S can convince her to act in one of his films for school. :-)

I'm an actor and also got the Presidential for $21k. I'm still waiting to hear from USC and NYU but Chapman theatre/acting is a wonderful program and depending on what happens, I very well may end up there. They are starting a BFA Screen Acting program which will be the first in the nation!
