I did read the reply from Lauren at Dodge, and only thing that I could think is that its kinda unfair that we get shafted last while the Freshmen get priority. Since most Transfer students are more experienced and seasoned than a student barely coming out from high school. But that’s my two cents.

Thats exactly why transfers are shafted last - you have experience. The whole point of going to University is to extend your understanding/knowledge in a subject.

i got decison mailed on april 21st and still nothing i live in san diego so it shouldnt take that long… but theres good news it says that thay want my taxes for financail aid ASAP under documents. i applied for business.

@justneedtoknow wuu!! That means you are in !!!

@ulima … Well let’s hope a fair number of students decline for us to have a chance… I really hope that they have saved some seats for us transfers … Hey, is your video in YouTube ??? It would be nice to know our work

Well it’s nearly may… The wait is almost over !!! Good luck everybody :)

I’m still waiting to hear back! Has anybody heard from Dodge? I applied for creative producing. I got into UCI, but I would really like to get into Chapman. I don’t like waiting haha

@moniso let’s hope they did leave some spots for us. Since I applied to their screenwriting program I submitted a two page story which I won’t get into detail but ill it will catch dodge’s attention.

@03ulima I got in as a graphic design major. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be accepted due to my low test scores, but I had a very strong portfolio.

DD received word from the Chapman admissions that she would be receiving a large package from admissions in response to an inquiry about why her status changed to decision mailed. Well, a package came with several documents, but it was for a financial aid award of unsubsidized loans. The computer printout had our DD’s name on it and other specific information. Does this mean she was accepted as a junior transfer? Admissions says to wait till package arrives. We don’t want to get our hopes up if this is somehow in error as Chapman was her first choice.

Hi Transferparent,
If the financial aid package came from Chapman and it has your student’s name on it, that means she got in. I can’t imagine a school sending out financial aid award to a student if she is not admitted. Congratulations to your daughter!

I also read that article about housing, but it didn’t affect my student. DS is a freshman and will be a sophomore in the fall. Next year’s housing is already confirmed. Chapman has a link with information on-campus housing for transfer students. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Thanks for the prompt reply OCELITE. You have a wealth of knowledge about the school and have provided great objective responses to many posters. We still haven’t received word from admissions confirming acceptance. I assume that, even with the 30% reported increase in apps, Chapman will, as in years past, probably be accepting apps until June 1 or until available transfer spaces fill up. Consequently, there are probably others in our situation. The problem is priority housing for transfers started on May 1 according to the web site. Our DD wants to live on campus next year. It appears that there are two dorms, South Morlan and Glass Hall. Glass Hall is listed as a Transfer Living Community while it appears that South Morlan is part of the North-South Morlan complex that also has freshmen. From what I could tell South Morlan has A/C. Glass is newer (2004), but it doesn’t explicitly state whether there is A/C. Finally, how necessary is A/C? I know Orange has the climate of neither the Laguna/Newport coastal temperate nor more inland Temecula/Riverside scorching especially during August, Sept and October.

Can you put us in touch with some parents of transfers students who are not film/entertainment majors (eg, accepted to Wilkinson, Schmid or other schools)? I say that out of ignorance not knowing whether it matters in terms of dorm assignments what your concentration is. Up to this point we’ve hesitated to initiate any contact with the school. DD has managed this on her own. However, she’s in finals now, and there are deposits that must be made, etc., so we’re just trying to get as much information so she can make an informed decision.

As for the A/C question for the dorms. According to housing, all the dorms have A/C. If you have more questions about housing, here is their link with contact information. They have been very helpful for us. [Chapman University - Residence Life - Contact Us](<a href=“Page Not Found | Chapman University”>Page Not Found | Chapman University)

The city of Orange gets pretty warm in the summer, in the early fall and during spring. I would suggest your student to bring wardrobe for both warm and cold weather. Most of the time will be warm like this week in the 80s. They also have a link for webcams that should be helpful to people who may want to know about the weather condition in the area.
