anyone else still waiting? I feel like its a bad sign that it still says decision pending.

dancin - I’m still waiting as well! Getting pretty nervous!

@dancerinpa, is that 10,000 early action applicants? Wow, that’s a real spike in the numbers - I just checked collegeboard and early action applicants reported was 2,800 for previous year.

Heshing!! Isn’t the wait just awful? haha what major did you apply to?

@dsprunk
my webadvisor status went from “File Complete, Decision Pending” to “Decision Mailed”

Yeah, I got the same thing. I’m hoping it’ll come tomorrow. My finals are done and my parents have work - so I’ll be home alone when the mail comes. Hopefully, it’ll be good news.

Bigmamabear: the total they said was 10,000 total not EA. They said they were up 35% in apps this year. Thats what they said during the tour back in October. All I know thats is probably because of the situation with the state schools in CA.

@dancerinpa I applied to Creative Producing!

General question - does the date you applied affect how long it’ll take for them to reach a decision? For example, would someone who submitted their application on Nov. 8 get their decision sooner than someone who submitted on Nov. 12?

@heshing

I don’t think the date affects the decision because I applied on Nov 14th but got a decision the first week in January.

Thanks, @dancerinpa. That’s still a good jump in total applications. You’re probably right about the situation in the UC and CSU systems having an effect on overall numbers - other posters have said their HS counselors had warned them too.

10,000 applicants? Yikes. I’ve heard all Cali schools have gotten huge numbers this year. I don’t live on the East coast, but my college counselor mentioned that the number of applications from my high school to California schools has increased a lot this year.

Anyway, I just got the mail. Nothing from Chapman, so I guess I’ll have to wait a few more days.

webadvisor still reads “Decision Pending” ! I’m getting worried…a lot of PR/ad people on here have already heard. Is this a bad sign or are they seriously just really backed up from all the applications?

Just got deferred from USD, which is pretty hard to get into. I’m thinking my chances of being rejected from Chapman are less likely now, and I DEFINITELY made it clear that Chapman was my first choice.

UGH this is all so stressful!!

@Sydney, Decision Pending is not a bad status at any time - it just means they haven’t gotten to your app yet. And since Ad/PR is in Dodge, they are probably handling a lot more apps than other schools within Chapman. This CC crowd is only a tiny fraction of the true number of applicants to Chapman/Dodge.

Well we did not here anything today in the mail. It really seems like something is going on in their admission office. Most school are very rigid in when and how they tell you. I think they wanted to change things this year and are finding it is not working very well. I guess some class has to be the testers. I dont think it is anything malicious. But a wow this is not working. I think it also depends on the dept you are applying. Maybe your app is treated differently depending on the dept you want to be in. Who knows but the waiting is killing us. They said the 10th it was sent. Even if it sat there for 5 or so days you would think it would be here by now. Oh Well…

Hey, I submitted mine in early November and I still have not heard back. I’m starting to get really nervous, because Chapman is my top choice, anyone know whats going on?

Userjstn: I know, I feel the same Chapman is my first choice as well and I haven’t heard anything which makes me nervous. They just must be backed up with applications =/

Yea that is what I was thinking does yours say decision mailed on web advisor?

dont worry too much! I just got my acceptance letter today, and I turned my app in a few days before the EA deadline. Keep in mind that when the status says “decision mailed,” they have to send everything in to get the informational packet made first - then they send it to you. My status said “decision mailed” for a week before I actually received anything in the mail.

cs11895, did you get an email from chapman? Or did your webadvisor tell you that your admission was approved before it went to “Decision mailed?” I’m so anxious…

So would you say that its a good sign that its taking awhile since that means there putting the informational packet together. If I had been rejected I would of found out faster right? its said decision mailed on mine for the past week and 3 days.
