I'm so jealous of the people that have started to hear back already! I chose not to apply Early Action because I didn't want to submit an application with my bad SAT score (1620) so I waited until early December when I got my new one (1830) to submit.

I believe we're supposed to start hearing back sometime in March? I scheduled an interview during February so I hope that helps. Anyone else doing or has done an interview?

Visited campus for the first time ever yesterday and LOVED it. Everything was perfect and all of the students look like people I want to be friends with. Amazing.
My interview went well. I was nervous but I think I was able to come out with some great points and convey myself in a positive way.
After seeing Chapman in real life and experiencing Southern California for the first time, this is definitely my first choice school. I just pray that they give me the aid that I need in order to attend!

Congrats, I am planning to apply for 2012. Hopefully I’ll get in and see America for the first time in my life. And I heard a lot of nice things about Orange County and the surrounding areas.

If you don’t mind me asking, what were the students like in-detail? Also, how did the Uni look? Was it stylish, arty, clean etc.

The campus itself was very modern in architecture, for the most part. At the front of the school there are 3 old, beautiful buildings. The pool was nice and new, the field was nice and new, everything was clean and all of the plants/grass/trees were healthy and beautiful. The dorms (aside from Morlan) were also very modern and clean.
I saw a few geeky/dorky students, but mostly a lot of hipster/well-dressed students I would say. I saw a frat out by the fountains and they seemed like the typical frat guys only a little but more dorky, which I appreciated.
I visited Orange Circle which is right off the campus and I wasn’t in love with it. It’s a lot of antique and other old shops. However, just a few minutes away is South Coast Plaza (a gorgeous, higher-end mall) and the Irvine Spectrum, so I have no complaints.

Another question. When can you starting applying for EA? I emailed the International Admission counsellor and told her about the GCSE subjects I failed and she said it will leave a dent on my application, so I am trying to do a lot to improve my application.

I think that it helps! But I don’t think it’s a make or break thing.
I scheduled one because I knew I was going to be visiting campus before March and I figured all it could do was help. Especially because I’m not from the area and I went out of my way to do it, I think it showed them I was REALLY interested in the school. In the interview several times I did say that Chapman was my first choice.
I think it’s a little something that can give you a needed boost but if you didn’t have one I wouldn’t freak out.

Did anyone else apply early action and get rolled to regular decision? Do you think they even recognize that you applied early anymore, or is your app just dumped in with the rest of the regular decision people?

According to the Chapman website:
Presidential Scholars

Each year twenty academically qualified freshman students with GPAs of 3.7 or higher and SAT scores of 1100 or higher will be selected as Presidential Scholars. The awards range from 55 to 100 percent of tuition. Interested students should request applications from the admissions office. These awards may be renewed for an additional three years with a 3.25 GPA for at least 24 credits per year.

Provost’s Scholars and Dean’s Scholars

Freshman and transfer students who come to Chapman with at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average may be eligible for a Provost’s or Dean’s scholarship. At Chapman, these students may receive academic scholarships of 15 to 50 percent of their annual tuition. Interested students should file the FAFSA and the FAF applications.

University Scholars

Freshmen or transfers with SAT scores of 1000 or above will receive an additional award equal to their score.

Annathatshibby, could you please post the link to that? I’m assuming there must be a deadline for the presidential/trustee ones that have passed already which is annoying.

I think it’s from 1995-1996. Things could change. It must have changed (about the having to apply thing) because I asked in the other Chapman thread and they said those scholarships were awarded along with the acceptance letter. Meaning there’s no extra thing we need to do, admissions does it for us.
I’m also guessing that they give out this scholarship to more than 20 people annually now.
