Still waiting, and I’ve applied for the TV major rose06.

@ annathatshibby; my status was updated on 3/20 according to the site (which was a sunday… so i’m assuming it changed on 3/21). i received my acceptance package on 3/25. my acceptance letter dates to “March 22, 2011”, and the actual envelope was postmarked on “MAR 24 2011”. i live 12-15 minutes away from chapman.

Changed to decision mailed. So probably a week’s wait. Hopes are low at this point, though. Was a film production applicant, didn’t make it, resubmitted application to my second choice, tv/broadcast. But they didn’t bother to change my Web Advisor’s intended major to television like they said they were going to. If they didn’t do it when they changed my status to mailed, seems unlikely I made it in. :{

I got accepted!! I’m so excited, this is my first choice school!

rose06,
According to the Chapman’s State of the University address, the acceptance rate for this fall is about 44 percent. Dodge is competitive to get in regardless of major, film production being the hardest to get in for many, so TV broadcast journalism should be a bit easier. Anything is possible.

As a Chapman parent, I thought this may be helpful to those of you planning on attending the school. It is always nice to be informed about what is going on with the school, so I am passing along these links so everyone would be updated.

Here is one on You tube also.

We are very excited about the future of Chapman! Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for all of the clarification guys.
Now I guess it’s just a waiting game. This packet that comes in the mail will determine the next 4 years of my life. I want to go to Chapman soooooo badly - more than I want anything right now.
I mean, 3.9 GPA 1830 student body VP and secretary, editor in chief of newspaper and lit mag, I traveled almost 400 miles to visit campus and interview … I just hope all the hard work pays off.
GOD, why can’t they just post decisions online - it makes things more bearable.

JIA YOU everybody!

There is no English equivalent that does this phrase justice…but basically it’s a Chinese way of cheering everyone on

The wait will be over eventually! Stay positive!

(I’m mostly saying these things to myself right now…)

Waitlisted! Gah!

If I get in from the waitlist, do I get scholarship stuff too? Anyone know?

what are yours stats seriously123?

GPA: 3.1 unweighed/weighted
SAT: 1710
Extracurriculars: president and founder of my school’s ARC student club for 2 yrs (not school supported due to conflicts with catholic relief services), art club 1 yr, JV swim 1 yr, varsity swim (this year), 2 years of comedysportz (improv club), 1 yr newspaper graphic artist, 1 year presenter for culture club (2 yrs as a member), 1 year contributer to lit mag (some poems will be published this year)
Volunteering: 4 years volunteering for the American Red Cross (ARC)… Countless hours. Teach children safety prepardness all around my county. Made $800 for the chapter and to help provide measles pins for kids in developing countries through bake sales. Made $217 so far for japanese red cross relief efforts. will collect donations at my brother’s elementary school as well has hold more bake sales there. currently putting canisters in local stores to help japan (donations go to the japanese red cross). (all without support from school - meaning no advertisements at school, no recruitments, no official meetings, no moderator… We’re technically not supposed to have meetings at school!)
Recommendations: One teacher who really likes me, one who likes me, and the (now former) Director of the Youth Services ARC. It was a killer recommendation. I was like teary-eyed while reading it, in a good way! bahah.
Special circumstances/whatever: I am also a former international student. My dad is a foreign service officer. I’ve lived in 5 different countries… Either than the states… I believe that chapman’s values and mission mirror those of the great international schools i attended (all very good American schools). <- The big moves were predominate in my common app essay and the last sentence basically sums up my supplement.
Senior classes (i really don’t know how this stat thing works): applied math, anatomy, religion, gov’t/econ, theatre, english.
Major: Communications

I did visit but I did not do an interview (which I regret, but c’est la vie!). I really want to go there because I think it’s a great fit for me! Oh, I also plan to swim at Chapman (I’d start out with their non-competitive swim team first cause i’m still not the greatest… but i’ll work my way up and try to eventually play competitively for them! i’d love to!)

So yeah… My stats were not so hot but whatever… I’m glad they could tell from my app how enthusiastic I was about the school. I put my heart and soul into their app! Anyway, I had the biggest sigh of relief when that envelope (of supposed doom) was actually a waitlist letter. I’m in the twilight zone but I’d rather be there than alone and rejected in the dark. :)

I don’t know if that question was to help answer my scholarship question or just a question out of curiosity…

I know that if I do get aid, it’ll probably be loans… maybe one tiny $5,000 scholarship? If they even do that? They probably don’t do that… The lowest scholarship I’ve seen on this site was $11,000…

Oh well. I still really want to go even if they can’t give me much… But I’m hoping they feel as generous as they have been to others. lol.

@musicislove, congrats on your acceptance!

@seriously, best of luck on your waitlist!

So my financial aid award loaded and I got the chancellor’s scholarships ($20,000) and a grant of $7,000 a year. I’m assuming this means I’m in, haha.
YIPEEE.

Congrats Annathatshibby! Great aid, too! Super yipee-yahoo!

WOW congrats annathatshibby! :)

GAHHH mine still hasn’t changed!!! Whyyyyy.

Is anyone else’s decision still “decision pending” on the website?I thought tomorrow (April 1st) was the deadline for college decisions to be mailed.

Mine is. It’s driving me crazy. This is from Chappenings (the Chapman admission website):

“If you are a high school applicant and have still not gotten a response from us we are very sorry! There are some decisions that still need to be sent out and we are working very hard to have them done by the first week of April. If you have not gotten a response, it does not mean “no.” It just means, we are 30% up in applications, and it could still be anything.”

This was in the replies to the latest post on Chappenings, and was sent today at 2pm in America.

Hope that calms some of us down…although it hasn’t done very much for me haha

Omg thank you so much @flippyadomp because mine is still pending and I was starting to get worried!

Congratulations annathatshibby! That’s awesome news!

ACCEPTED!!! Today has been the best day.
