waitlist thread. please join for chapman class of 2022. anyone else waiting?
My S is still waiting. I guess we will not know much until sometime after May 1, 2018. We only received an email recently acknowledging his place on the waitlist. Feels like purgatory.
just seems like there’s no comments on chapman waitlist. he was waitlisted to nyu with tons and tons of other kids but chapman’s waitlist comments or discussion threads is crickets. I am wondering how many are on the waitlist, specifically for dodge, and how many possibly will get off that waitlist. There’s not much online to find information about it and it’s his number one even over nyu believe it or not.
We are in the same boat. My son was waitlisted to Dodge and NYU. Chapman is his preference. NYU puts about 15,000 kids on their waitlist. Last year about 300 students got off the waitlist at NYU, mostly because NYU is so stingy with FA. I think its going to hard to get off the waitlist in Dodge this year because this is the first year they admitted Film Production students ED. I can’t find any information on how many students were taken off the waitlist from Dodge in past years. However, if you look at prior year discuss threads you can see that students were admitted off the waitlist. Time will tell. Good luck.
okay, i did not know that information re. chapman and ed which makes prospects even worse for rd on waitlist. ugh. we but i guess most schools do ed anyway as a choice.
don’t think nyu will be realistic choice for getting off the waitlist and were hoping for chapman and it was his better choice as far as lifestyle and change from east coast. where is your son going then? if you don’t mind me asking.
I am currently on the fall waitlist but admitted for spring 2019. I have committed and accepted my waitlist offer immediately after receiving the email, but I am worried. I saw some statistics stating that around 32% of waitlisted students get accepted and I hope this is true.
@trying2GRADUATE where did you see this 32% waitlist acceptance rate?
@wang33 sorry for the late reply! This isn’t a super credible source but i calculated it from and i realized i used the wrong numbers so around 37% based on the number of people who accepted the waitlist and who were admitted https://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=661
it says 268 get or got off the waitlist. how does this site know how many will take when chapman doesn’t even know yet how many accept the may 1st deadline? my ds is on pins and needles waiting to get off the waitlist in may. he really wants to be there. frankly, i don’t understand why he didn’t get in with such a high acceptance rate with his scores, essay, etc. but i know i’m sure they take mostly california students and he is not.
I was wait listed to Dodge for Animation/ VFX. Just going to wait at the moment. So much luck to everyone.
I am a California Student but, was waitlisted
Thank you @tryin2graduate and @westcoastdream
any ideas about this coming week and what it will bring regarding chapman? still waiting here…
I’m here too! Waitlisted, kind of crushed me, but hey- it wasn’t a no!! Who did you all commit to today? In the meanwhile
S is at hofstra. the grass is greener though of course and wants dodge! WL, waiting.
. It’s hard to register, send deposit, sign up for orientation and housing when his mind is on a WL list and he has so many emotions flying and today everyone wearing their tshirts and hats but him because he doesn’t want to jinx it!
According to Chapman’s Tumblr website:
How many people applied/were accepted to film production?
We don’t have the exact numbers, but there were more than 1,200 applications to film production and an 8% acceptance rate.
When are we gonna get our waitlist decisions?
Waitlist decisions should be released in mid May.
midmay?!!! ugh. I thought perhaps this week. only 8% acceptance into dodge. So WL doesn’t look good now.sigh
mid-may, so that would be end of this coming week or the following week. anyone have thoughts? And, if only 8% were accepted, they don’t say how many of the 1200 were waitlisted after they sent acceptances out. Sounds like this will be a long shot.
Anyone hear anything from Chapman about the waitlist?
someone on chapman admissions blog said and asked:
I have heard some people have gotten an email from Chapman already regarding the fall waitlist. Do they come out in waves?
The response was: waitlist decisions do not come out in waves. we understand the anxiety of waiting for a decision, and are still on target to release waitlist decisions in mid-May.
So what does that mean? this person is making this up just to feel them out? to pressure them? is it a fake question? is it a lie response? maybe some people did receive an email and they’re waiting to hear their reply to add more people accepted for mid-may? idk, this is killing us here. this waiting is awful and no, they don’t understand the anxiety of waiting for a decision, they just do not understand a 17 year old teens anxiety. if they did they wouldn’t do this to them.
