Hey all, so I recently got an email about a few hours ago from my counselor asking if I was still interested in Chapman. I’m shocked because I heard that they don’t even look at the waitlist until mid-May and even then, they accept very few people. It’s only late March! I’m pretty happy about this bc it should be a good sign hopefully. I’m supposed to email or call back, but I was wondering if I should mention financial aid. Although I made it clear that Chapman is my first choice school, I don’t think I could go unless I got enough aid. My parents didn’t really discuss this with me before I applied even though I asked them to help me. So when I reply back, should I ask about this or just say that I’m still interested for now. Thanks!
Hey, I got an email yesterday too about the waitlist. I just responded, but didn’t mention the financial aid aspect. I was hoping to talk about it in the call or email response from them. But I never got an email or call back. Did you get a response back to your email?
Yes, I decided to call my admissions counselor today because I thought I would get a solid response and I was offered a seat! She said my portal would change soon and the financial aid package would follow soon after. I would definitely call your counselor if she provided a number for you because there’s always the possibility that they didn’t receive your email.
Congrats! Yes literally a couple minutes after I commented I got a call from my counselor and I also got a seat! She said we would get the financial packages by the end of next week I believe. Thanks for the advice either ways.
That’s great news! I hope I get a good aid package because my mom is refusing to let me go. I live in NY so she’s terrified of the whole long distance thing. You wouldn’t happen to know if I could eventually switch to Dodge College at some point while I’m there, would you? Because that’s what attracted me to Chapman, but I didn’t apply for film b/c I didn’t have anything substantial for a portfolio, so I got in for communications instead. Just worried if it’s worth it or not.
Chapman is very generous with their financial aid, whether you get in initially or off the wait list! So hopefully you get a good package!
Transferring into Dodge totally depends on what major you are looking at. Film Production is TOUGH and someone would have to leave for a spot to be open. Some of the others are easier but none of them are easy per se. Creative Producing has the most overlap with Film Production, TV Writing and Producing is a bit easier–and they are currently moving towards merging that program with Film Production. Film Studies is also easier but it’s more learning about films than making them.
BUT anyone can get on set and learn by doing. Look up the Chapman Film Community on facebook and join. They are always looking for crew members on there,
It’s been about a month.
Has anyone else been accepted from waitlist?
I read Chapman only took around 14 people off waitlist last year. Curious to see if they take more.
