our college counselors for next year give us an opportunity to write a short essay for them detailing what we think our best assets are for them to use in college recommendations.
i'm totally lost as to what i should say. i know this isn't a time to be modest, but i always feel wierd signaling out my best characteristics, especially when the rest of the school will be listing the exact same ones.

therefore, i am unfortunately leaning towards what admissions officers would want to hear.
what do you think? what characteristics would be a good idea to list, providing they apply in some way?

I would say, assuming your GC's know you well enough, that they put what they know about you best, and not to worry about what colleges want to hear, b/c trust me, colleges really don't want to hear the perfect story.

haha i agree about not wanting to make up the quintessential 'perfect story'.

the reason i was curious is because my highschool is huge, and my guidance counselor has met with me like 4 times just because of the number of students needing, well...guidance.

hopfully ill come up with some good adjectives that aren't obscenely overrepresented in the student body to best sell myself to schools.
ah, college application process is beginning to feel so phony.
