if anything me and JYUN are bros, bro ahaha

Hey I definitely know he’s Korean. I’m just pretending to be cool and fun haha. I always make those awkward jokes that no one likes.

i know its just fun to be the person who instigates hahaha

im always the person who says thats what she said in school and awkward…
hahaha

Accepted: Hotchkiss, Loomis, Taft, St Marks
Waitlisted: Groton, Deerfield, Milton, Exeter, St Andrews
Denied: SPF, Andover, Thatcher, Westminster
Will be going to Hotchkiss.

No point expecting the waitlist to turn positive. If we don’t decide and respond to one of the accepted schools by April 10, we will loose the accepted school offer and if waitlist doesn’t turn positive after April 10, we have no BS to attend this year. We need to take a decision before April 10 2010 and stop hoping waitlisted results will turn positive.

All the top 15-20 BS schools are good schools and with the economic in a recession, funding getting scare, more people applied to top BS. If you got accepted to any one of the top school, you are blessed.

All school have 20%-35% of the seats reserved for international and about 40% reserved for rich kids who are willing to pay full tuition. Rest 20-25% is reserved for diversity type of students. 2010 applications were at a record level. Only Andover and Exeter have more then 100 kids being admitted in 9th grade during 2010. Most schools have only 65 to 40 kids being admitted for 9th grade. Some schools like Thatcher only have 21 kids admitted for 9th grade. During 2009, Deerfield was over subscribed, and most students accepted offer. So they had to covert staff housing into dorms and TV room into 2-4 beds units. Typically BS oversubscribe about 10-15% of the actual seats. Wait list only opens up after the oversubscription. (It is like hoping a seat in a plane, opens up after tickets have been oversold).

Top 15 schools received 1500-900 application each.

Advice is, if you got accepted to one of the top BS or a decent BS, accept it, before you loose it by April 10 2010. No point waiting for wait list to open up.

If you have no acceptance and all wait listed, start calling Tier-2 and tier 3 schools immediately and get new applications in before they get filled too. If wait list opens up you got lucky. Dont just sit and wait. Either apply to a backup school (if you can afford $50-$75 application fee), or just hope luck is with you. Reality of wait-list opening up, is very very slim this year.

Best of Luck

In reality I probably know hco most then oter kids on cc lol

neato, i guess i’m in the minority here but i’ll say it anyway. i think you are being far too harsh. there is no reason to expect others to react the same way your son reacted to a similar disappointment and them judge them harshly for not being your son’s clone reaction-wise. also, to characterize jyun212’s posts as moaning is basically dishonest.

in addition, keep in mind that there is perhaps a cultural difference between you and jyun212 that comes very much into play here. in many asian cultures there can be a comfortable, even happy, coexistence of seemingly contradictory emotions that does not occur so easily in most western cultures. in other words, perhaps jyun212 can be very happy, excited, and appreciative of his andover/exeter news while being concurrently deeply disappointed with his sps news in ways that are not well understood by you. just a thought.

Thanks jaypeah hopefully more ppl can understand how I truly feel now

I don’t think neato is being harsh. You have to take all those “jyun” threads into consideration. He has been worried about not getting in anywhere. Constantly. Then mentions he speaks to coaches, interviewers, etc on a weekly basis. How they all call him. It was getting tough to hear that too. Now he has racked up a bunch of acceptances to great schools, which he previously said he preferred, and now wants one from the one place (or 2) that w/l him. Why? The love the school that loves you advice is applicable here.

Frankly, we come and read about “Jyun” when we start to stress about out own situation in order to keep pace with the soap opera and laugh about the latest boast, or newest worry. It was about time someone told him to be happy and think about how his posts might affect others.

jyun, you do sometimes come off as insenstive and ungrateful, but hey no one is perfect especially on an Internet board, ppl can choose to ignore what they don’t like to read. However, if you stay with one user name, one personality and one story, you need at least to be consistent, otherwise you wouldn’t be taken seriously. You did claim that Andover was your top choice (then you said somewhere elese it was your mom’s “thing” because its need-blind policy? Does need-blind or not matter to your family? - you get full rid anywherhe anyway). Then you said you received an “unofficial offer” from the Andover coach on the night of March 10. Throughout the day, you “conquered” A, E, Choate, Peddie… Then you started posting in the SPS thread, PM Winterset, starting new thread to “pursue your dream - SPS”. You sound naive to me sometimes, so I am not sure if that’s who you are, or you are just a bad story teller. Interesting and a little annoying at the same time.

Ha! Go Benley!

I agree with neato’s assessment. It’s spot on and not too harsh. jyun, you are old enough to feel empathy towards your fellow cc students that did not fair as well and gratitude for your acceptances - especially considering the FA you are receiving.

Sounds like you have too much time on your hands to wallow in self pity about your waitlists. Maybe you should use up some of that free time by following these suggestions from gemmav:

But, please, I beseech thee–take the time to thank those who helped you along the way. While you put a lot of time and effort into this process, you didn’t achieve this goal on your own. Whether it’s a hug, a phone call, an e-mail or a snailmail letter (my personal favorite), the following people deserve a few words of gratitude:

1) Your parents, or whoever raised you to be the smart, responsible young person you are.

2) Your teachers, guidance counselor/secondary school advisor, coaches, etc., who not only wrote enthusiastically on your behalf, but also have given you the skills to succeed at ABC Academy next year.

3) Your interviewer, who wrote a positive report about your conversation, and served as your advocate on the admission committee. And believe me, we all have to fight for our favorites.

4) The dean/director of admission at ABC Academy, who thoughtfully considered your application and made the final decision to put you in the “yes!” pile, while so many others were not so fortunate.

Can I end this thread for you, jyun.

We know you’ll make the best decision. Good luck!

whats the point of this thread? I dont get it does anyone know?

okay lemmigns idk y u brought it up again, but i apolgized for being a prick. I hope to end it with gonna stop so id k why u brought it up again. again i apologize for sounding like a prick

Where is PrincipalViola when you need him?
