Chasing my Dream

Hey everybody, I was just wondering if I could get any help/feedback on this situation so I decided to come here for some help.

I'm 18 and am just starting my freshman year at St. John's University in Queens. The main reason I went there is because of the high amount of financial aid they gave me and because my family wanted me to stay close to home. I am starting to regret it however and I've ALWAYS loved the University of Washington and just the Pacific Northwest in general. I know it sounds weird since I live on the other side of the world in New York City, but I just love Seattle and have really been hurt by the fact that I won't be going to Washington for college.

I went to a decent high school (Christ the King Regional High School) and had decent stats (B+ average, 1150 SAT) Now I am thinking about transfering to the University of Washington. I am under the same situation as DoubleG a few posts below (I'm good friends with him as well, so if you could help him as well, we are sort of going through the same problem) and was considering moving to Seattle and working and living there for a year to gain residency. I guess I have the same problem as he does, but I was also wondering if anyone had any input on the U. of Washington. My interest (possible major) is communications (broadcasting) but I don't know how strong their program is. Also, I am interested in Sports Management and I realize they have a Certificate's Program for that. Feedback would be great.

I also wouldn't be opposed to Washington State University as I actually like their programs better, especially when it comes to broadcasting. The problem is, I would much rather move from NYC to Seattle than from NYC to Pullman, Washington... AKA the middle of nowhere.

My life is on the line folks, SOMEBODY HELP!!!!!

Well Sleepless, Seattle is a great college "town." You are right though, the broadcasting at Washington State is much better than UW. Have you been to Pullman? Very, very different than Seattle. UW does have a good communications program but I don't know how it ranks against others. I'm not familiar with the Sports Management program. I'm a UW alum though and thought my college experience was great - ok, 28 years ago. Keep in mind the cost of living in Seattle is not cheap, although low cost housing can be found. There are lots of areas near the UW that would work and if you can handle being with out a car, the metro system is really good, especially for the U district and downtown.

Thanks outwestmom. I've actually never been to the State of Washington, but I've read up on it and I absolutly LOVE IT! It doesn't hurt that I am a die-hard Seattle Seahawks fan. From what I know, Pullman is a tiny town and it's basically the "Fertile Farmland" of Washington. Wherever I go, I plan on living on campus.

Bump

Any more help please!!
