My son has narrowed his choices for Chemical Engineering to Drexel, University of New Hampshire and University of Massachusetts - Amherst. Any thoughts/experiences with any of these schools?

Thx, Dan D

BUMP

Wow, nothing on any of these schools?! How about just UMass or Drexel, since he’s eliminated UNH?

I looked on ABET.org (engineering school program accreditation) website.
Both UMass and Drexel are accredited in chemical engineering (Drexel in 1936 and Amherst in 1958).

USNews doesn’t have your choices ranked for undergrad chemical engineering. However, for graduate chemical engineering, which can be a good proxy for strength of the undergrad program, UMass ranks #27 (tied with Johns Hopkins and Ohio State) while Drexel is not ranked.

Both programs are likely to meet your son’s academic needs. If he gets a BS in chemical engineering, pay and job opportunities are likely to be the same from both. If one option is significantly cheaper for your son, I would tend to favor it.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with the schools to comment about all important environmental factors.

Good luck to your son!

Thx, UCB, just looking for any assistance for my son to make his decision… He has actually eliminated UNH so we’re down to 2!
