what do u think about Ernesto "Che" Guevara.......i loved The Motorcycle Diaries....but according to this guy: http://www.slate.com/id/2107100/ thats bad cuz he did many things that isnt shown...............what do u think?

I know people who wear t-shirts with his face on it. They think it's cool.

Uh, no. He's a villain.

He killed or ordered the killing of dissidents. People sometimes respond to me saying "Batista supporters deserved to be killed" but they ignore the fact many of the counter-revolutionaries fought and protested because of farm collectivisation.

Also, he put homosexuals, gypsies, and AIDS victims in labor camps (completely irrevelent to what he and Castro where trying to achieve).

I am very strongly against communism. Those who support it and/or think it's not that big of a deal (I'm excluding the communist leaders themselves) have absolutely no idea what living under communist rule is like.

i am against communism cuz it can never be carried correctly...people are too imperfect.....but its an ok idea...sorta.................im no commmie....but "equality" isnt that bad

imagine how diff Cuba would be if Che stayed around?.....For worse perhaps? i also meant to ask....how ppl feel about the CIA assassinating him

Spinach, this question is certainly not meant to be offensive in any way, but have you lived under Communism?

"i am against communism cuz it can never be carried correctly...people are too imperfect.....but its an ok idea...sorta.................im no commmie....but "equality" isnt that bad"

I disagree. I think that Communism has existed throughout the world in most, if not all, prehistoric societies. Centuries of individualism and private property make Communism extremely unfamiliar for Western people.

ok..thats what i meant...that people that have become accustomed to being above others...and having their own things.......making it hard for it to be used for them

Che is seen as the sign of any type of revolution/revolutionary thought in Europe -- he's become more of a symbol for not blindly following the system than for himself. Using him for that reason, as an educate dperson who fully understands the implications of wearing his likeness, fine -- but most people who wear the Che shirts don't know the not-so-positive side. You don't exactly see people walking around with Saddam Hussein shirts.

And as for Communism, pure Marxist philosophy is a great idea, but, since humans are governed by selfishness and are thus fallible, it can never be realized in a real world.

Nomir_dva, all my family's lived under communism, yes. But I personally haven't. That's it, I'm not getting into details...
