cheap flight tickets within the US

Hello guys,
I would like to fly from NYC to Chicago once a month on the weekend and I searched online and found out that most of the flights are around 180-200 dollars (round trip) if not more expensive! I remember one friend of mine saying that you can get tickets for 50$ if you buy it last minute and even wait in the airport to get the best price.
Does anyone know better?;)

Yeah, I paid 140 for mine from Georgia, and later on AirTran had a special for 70 dollar tickets. When should we buy tickets?

70 dollar round trip? cause if that price is for one way it comes to the same amount like the ones i found at us airways delta or AA.

There is always the bus, although the NY-Chicago distance may be hardcore.

19 hrs;) i prefer paying more and flying....

I often fly home to Chicago out of Long Island/Islip.

Getting there can be a bit of a pain in the a** the first tim or so, until you figure it out, but Southwest tickets are often $39 one-way. You can't beat it. And the LIRR is cheaper than a cab to Laguardia.

The St. Louis-Chicago ride is only 5hrs or so by bus and the prices are unbeatable.

thanks chicago jen
how did we come to st louis?

just random. sorry lol

San Francisco <-> New York round trip is around 200 dollars...

but 200 from Chicago?

dang, that's so expensive
