I looked at the Econo Lodge place and it's like 100 dollars / night. (What?!?)

Do you guys know any place near Cornell that's fairly cheap to stay?

did you check all the hotels listed in the "parents" section of the cornell days brochure? my parents arent coming so i didnt pay much attention to it, but there's like a good amount of hotels listed there.:)

100 dollars/night in Ithaca is pretty good.
But you guys better hurry up. most hotels are probably packed by now.

any hotel for o week will be pricey...the oligopoly has you by the throat!

Go to tripadvisor.com and type in "Ithaca." It will give you all the hotels plus reviews of the good and bad.

The Holiday Inn is where most visiting sports teams stay. Good location. You might get a room for $79, depending. Near graduation, the same room would cost you $4-500. They gouge you when they can.

Wow Byerly... I'm imprerssed with your knowledge of Ithaca... given your Cambridge, Mass connections I wouldn't have pegged you for an Ithaca expert... you're right though, the Holiday Inn is oftern a good value... use your AAA discount if you got one... they might even have a Cornell Days special going...

Another place that one could try is the Hillside Inn... its within walking distance to Campus...phone is 607-272-9507 - warning: its a little funky, some might say run down, but it's location can't be beat and the price is often low...

Ok, within the last year the Holiday Inn renovated their standard rooms and thus have instituted a price increase. Those rooms are pretty nice and comfy, which is why it will cost you about 129 for a room. The econolodge isnt that great but it is acceptable. I would not stay at the Hillside Inn, it is probably the most sketchy place to sleep in Ithaca. My favorite hotels in the area include the Courtyard, Hampton Inn, and the Holiday Inn. Plus the Statler, but that usually runs $170+ a night. As far as bargain hotels, the Comfort Inn is good, as is the Best Western.

Ive stayed at best western, econo lodge (good and sketchy), and this really small place way on the other side of town. If you are coming to ithaca at a high-demand time, just consider yourself lucky if you can find anywhere at all.

One man's sketchy (funky) is another man's charming...

Dude i'm all about the sketch. Sketchiness is a way of life.

hence your happiness there in funkytown... I mean Ithaca...lol

I was trying to make a reservation for the orientation in August.. I called Hillside Inn and they were like "you have to call in June to make reservations for August blah blah blah." Man, they said it would be around 55-65 a night though. Suits me, my family's got no ability to afford 100+/night to visit Cornell. :(

Hillside inn is a real s-hole, but the location's nice.

Yeah it really is pretty bad...when my fraternity has stripper night, this is where they stay. Its not the best place...take a look: http://www.hillside-inn.net/services/

if your parents are willing to do a bit of driving, they could probably find a decent place a little farther away. I know whenever my friends has parents and relatives come, they stay even as far away as binghamton and just rent a car.

Yeah thats a good point quynh. Cortland is probably the closest to Ithaca, but Syracuse and Binghamton are also options.

Spn, what house are you in?

Yeah...My parents and I are staying in Cortland for the days before and during orientation week.

Hi, check out the Ramada on Triphammer Road. My sister goes to Cornell (finishing junior year now) and we always stay there. Just basic but 5 mn from campus. fyi, make your reservations NOW for orientation, parent's day, and graduation 2009! I kid you not! Go Cornell !!!
