cheap laptop

When I was looking for my laptop, I came across these three from Best Buy. I though they were a decent deal; Other's might be inclined to disagree, though.

Two of them only have 1GB of RAM, however, and I've heard that with Vista you'll definitely need more. =P They're expandable to 2GB, though.

I dunno, I trust stores like Best Buy and Office Depot (Best Buy moreso), so I think you'd be good if shopped from there and waited for sales or deals to pop up. Plus, you can also return it within a time frame and do things in store that you can't do online. Others are more savvy than I, though. =P

Plus, if you don't have a printer, Best Buy is having a sale on some of them now. =]

I've never had an Acer, but when I was looking for my laptop, I did not hear good things about them.

Are you factoring in costs for accessories/software [like anti-virus]/warranties, at all? Or just disregarding those?

Also, just because it has no negative reviews doesn't necessarily mean it's a good laptop, and just because it does have a few negative ones, that doesn't mean it's a bad laptop.

I was originally hoping to get Windows XP, but at this point I think I'm fine getting Vista. However, especially with Vista, I want to have at LEAST 2 gigs of RAM. While I don't need a heavy-duty computer, I also don't want to get something like the eee pc because I still want to have something semi-professional. Also, I'm more inclined towards getting a core-2 duo if possible. For these reasons, the Acer seems to be a pretty good deal.
Also, I've read a lot of stuff online and it seems like the general consensus is that Acer is improving their quality, but I'm not sure how that applies to this model.

EDIT: All the software "accessories" and whatnot I can get free/use open source. I'll probably be buying a printer, but I think I'll get it separately.

How about this one? Dell - Inspiron Laptop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5750 - Jet Black - I1525-122B
