Cheap is important, but no bugs and walking distance to the university - any suggestions??

what do you define as walking distance

Many of the hotels have shuttles to grounds. The Cavalier Inn is close (easy walking distance) but I don’t recommend it. I stayed there myself for DOTL and it was not good.

a mile would be nice - more if you can tell me it won’t rain on April 20th!

There are links to the “Places to Stay” page all over our website. Use that site plus Google Maps and Tripadvisor to narrow down the options.

Thanks Dean J - I was trying that but was having some difficulty with the map thing - I didn’t know which way to go to find the university and of course the streets mean nothing to me.

How about this…I have set the start pin at The Rotunda.

If you are thinking of visiting for DOTL, you can also stay overnight with The Monroe Society. See your invitation for more info.

Perfect! Much thanks. Will Cavdog be around campus on the 20th?

Cav Dog is one of the main events on DOTL. If you want help from the Monroe Society for an overnight, hurry, I am a member (and put ppl up) but based on the emails I am getting we are really booked up.

Aw, that was very nice to say, Vistany!

As long as it doesn’t rain, CavDog will be at DOTL. While most of Grounds is dog friendly, I don’t want to press my luck with our rain sites (Newcomb Hall and Old Cabell Hall).

Hampton Inn is walking distance. Close to corner too.

Just booked my room - thanks

Remember that the trolley is free and runs up and down Main Street, around the Downtown Mall, and through Grounds.

If you’re staying at the Hampton Inn, there is a trolley stop across and down the street about half a block.
