Hi everyone! My friend is planning on driving here and visiting for a few days, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any relatively cheap places/parking garages for her to park her car overnight. I live in Unit 1, so it'd be nice if her car were close to the units. Thank you!

If she’s coming on the weekend, then you guys are in luck. Every street that falls within the Berkeley Residential Preferential Parking program has free parking overnight (usually between 7pm and 8am) as well as free parking on weekends. Some zones do get checked on Saturdays though, so pay attention to the particular instructions on the sign on your street. You’ll have to head south a bit from Unit 1 to find the nearest RPP zone, but it’s free parking.

One thing to note is with the home football game on Saturday, there will be a LOT of competition for the free street parking anywhere near the stadium. Some zones even specifically say no parking on football home gamedays. Just read carefully and you’ll be fine.

Good luck and have fun! Parking in Berkeley is a royal pain, but as long as you’re very careful about it you won’t get screwed.

Street-side parking should be available for free between 7pm and 8am.

Are the structures free? Like next to Unit 3 and next to Unit 1?

The structures next to Unit 3 and Unit 1 prohibit parking overnight.

If your car is in Underhill (near Units 1 & 2) between 2-5am, you will get a $80 ticket.

If your car is in the Telegraph lot (near Unit 3) between 1-6am, you will not be able to access it and the cost is $20 IIRC.

im just posting in this so i can have future access for when people come to crash lol

this weekend is gonna be nuts!!! did you guys forget that it’s gaaaaameday. although if it rains, there’ll be less people

Okay, let me add a question… My daughter is going up to visit my son in November. She will be arriving on a Friday and leaving early Tuesday morning. He lives in Foothill. What would be her best option for parking?

Bumping this with a follow-up question… Does anybody know of any parking structures (not street-side parking)? Because she’s worried about parking on the street overnight…

there’s nothing to be worried about as long as you don’t keep any valuables inside. or just don’t leave anything inside.
