cheapeast summer rooming! help plz!

So I'm doing a summer internship at dartmouth. whats the best way to get cheap summer rooming w/ TV and internet access? I'm willing to room with other students. In general, should I search for rooms on campus, or elsewhere...

thx all

Well things to consider:
off campus apartments are probably slightly cheaper than dorms, IF you can arrange roommates and if you can get one (hanover is small and there is not a lot of off campus housing available .)
If you decide to stay on campus the entire campus is blanked in wifi, so you won’t have to pay for internet.
On campus has TV access in common rooms, but unless you get an ID for our secure network you won’t be able to tap into our TV service on your computer.

All in all, I’d probably say an on campus dorm would best serve your needs, but off campus could be a slight possibility.

thanks for the advice! how should I apply to housing? I see only applications for “first year students” “transfer students” and “interim students”. Also, on average how much does it cost (per month) to dorm at a 2-person basic room at Dartmouth during the summer?

I would contact the person/lab you’re doing the internship with and see if they have any experience with intern housing. If not, I’m sure you could e-mail the office of residential life and ask them what interns usual do. residential.life@dartmouth.edu

Im trying to find a rooming partner for the summer to split costs…
Where can I get a directory/list of all the '12 students in dartmouth? ('12 students b.c they spend sophomore summer on campus)

IIRC, sophomores automatically get housing assigned for sophomore summer. So you won’t be able to just “grab a room” with one. Also, Dartmouth does room fees per student, rather than per room, so unless you are planning on sleeping on someone’s floor that won’t be an incentive to get a '12 to want to room with you. Further, they try not to give out class email lists because they don’t want to encourage spammers.

When I graduated two years ago, the cost of a dorm per term was $2100 (all dorms cost the same, regardless of size, etc.). However, along with all of the above, I’m not sure that you’ll be able to get an on-campus dorm. Because there are so few students on in the summer, they shut the majority of the dorms and only keep a few open so space is kinda scarce and they’ll obviously prioritize students over you. An off-campus place is probably your most realistic option. Your best bet, like Spunaugle said, is to contact whoever you’re doing your internship with because they likely have prior experience helping people like you find a place to stay while you are in Hanover.
