Cheaper Places to Stay near BoCo

Hotels were just too pricey last weekend (given that the first tuition payment is only 8 weeks away) so I googled “bed & breakfast Boston” and I found an agency with lots of places near BoCo. We stayed in a lovely condo just across the Fens for $115 a night…it was a good way to check out how busy/safe the area is at night and on weekends.

Thank you for the tip. Do your remember the name of the agency? I need to start planning for when I go with my D when she starts school in August.

Here's the website: http://bnbboston.com/index.html . If you call and tell them you're visiting BoCo, they will find you a place nearby.

Thanks Skwidjymom- maybe we'll see you there!

If you need more space and you are driving, I can recommend the Marriott Courtyard in south Boston (Dorchester). It was brand new, reasonably priced, an easy drive to BoCo, roomy, and had free parking. There is a big shopping center close by with a Target, Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, and an Old Navy, too. Don't eat breakfast in the hotel...there's a diner right there that was really good.

Thank you! We'll be flying in but if we rent a car that may be an option.

Bump, for you folks auditioning on campus.

Another suggestion: During the move- in process my parents and I stayed at the 463 Beacon Street guest house. The rooms are fairly cheap and not too far from the school, about 4 or 5 blocks walking distance. If you're auditioning in the winter months, you'd want to take a cab to the school, but it would be a short short ride! :)

My d and I are trying to plan a visit during her spring break, March 8 to 11. Could anyone recommend any hotels/b&b's/transportation/etc. that will help us during our stay. I prefer not to rent a car because I don't know what the weather will be like and do NOT want to drive in snow or sleet. Looking forward to seeing 42nd Street while we are there. So far I have contacted the website for B&B's provided by Skwidjymom (thanks for that valuable information) and Star Shuttle.

Thanks!

Renting a car would be a nightmare...actually, not so much the renting, but the DRIVING and the PARKING. If you get a B&B in Back Bay, you will not need a car.

Below is a link to the subway
MBTA Subway 'The 'T' > Maps, Schedules, and Fare Information for the Boston Area Subway System
On the Green line the stop closest to BoCo is Hynes (between Copley & Kenmore)...
From the stop its a 5 minute walk so you can really pick a place to stay anywhere
close to a subway stop and you should be all set.
You are welcome to contact me if you need any local help... I live around Boston and both my d's go to school in Boston
