Cheating

How many of you have ever cheated on a test / quiz ?

At my high school cheating is pretty big. Most people literally just copy off test papers since our teachers are all oblivious. However ive never really done anything except write an answer on my hand lol

I've never cheated personally, but I've seen plenty of it at my school. I didnt do anything but it's definitely going to hurt them in the future.

I cheated in Geometry in 9th grade. I had a really horrible 8th grade algebra teacher. I am now taking pre-calculus in 12th grade, and all i ask is why?!??!?!? Its not like I hate math its just that I cant understand it above a B level, even though I study forever sometimes.

one time during a test i pretended like i was done and had handed it in and just pulled out my notebook and put it on my desk and found the answer and then i just put it back under my desk after i got everything i needed and filled it out on the test and turned it in. I knew i woudln't get caught if i didn't do it suspiciously

woah I cheated the whole freaking year on every test and I never studied. I still ended up with a C, so remmber kids NEVER cheat unless you want to pass.

in middle school, i cheated on a HUGE biology exam and ended up getting an A+ as my final science grade. haha

Never on a test or a quiz. As most others in my school, I have just on tedious homework assignments.

You must really have it down huh? lol

My teacher sat about 5 desks behind me so Id crouch down really low in my chair and turn completely around to copy the test of the smart kid behind me lol.

I can remember a few spelling tests back in 7th grade. It was no biggie. Perhaps I am now facing the consequences of that though because my spelling is absolutely incorrigible, I depend on Word to fix it for me more than I should.

I cheated a grand total of once in first grade when I looked at another kid's paper to see if he got the right answer too. I sucked at it and got caught so I've never done it again.
I'm in college now, however, and if someone cheats near me continually I am not below giving an anonymous tip to the academic integrity board. Note to people who cheat now: getting mixed up in stuff like that can mess up your life so if you're as smart and special as you think you are you should stop doing it. Just a warning, lest you end up with me next to you when you take your next test.

I, too, have a confession. In second grade, I didn't know how to spell chief ... so I opened up my desk, knew my homework assignment was right on top, and "double-checked" my answer....and I feel bad to this very day.

Wonders if he spelled chief right in this post

I very rarely cheat, mainly because I don't think it's worth the effort when I can do just fine in school myself. If I don't have time to do an assignment, I just don't do it, and let my grade take a little hit. When I have cheated, it's been stuff like copying/letting people copy minor homework assignments. Never on tests.

It actually seems to me that most people who cheat do it more for sport than anything else, because it takes almost as much effort to lay down the scheme as it would to just study. People tend to get the grades they would have gotten anyway.

I do sometimes use sparknotes.com rather than reading books for class, which I see as on the border of cheating, but not quite the same thing.

The only time I have ever cheated was in 8th grade, you had to take this preposition test where you had to memorize 80 specific prepositions and write them all down. It was IMPOSSIBLE.... The teacher was over playing Solitaire and Freecell the whole time . . . who makes 8th graders memorize prepositions?! I have never felt bad about cheating on that test either.

I broke into my teacher's room and stole the tests from his drawer. Yea, it doesn't get any more hardcore than this.

I am sure in some inner city school, some kid held a teacher at gunpoint to get the answers to a test. * That * would be really hardcore.

Sparknotes is an aid, not a cheat sheet. ;)

Cheater, cheater pumpkin eater! They used to be a study aid until pretty much everyone and their grandmother would read the Cliff's notes version of the book and the smart teachers would test stuff that wasn't in the condensed version.

Since College Confidential's purpose is to help people ethically share college information, I am closing this thread, which seems to have become a temptation for people to share tips about cheating.
