Check application status

Hey, I took the October SAT and sent in my scores several days ago; I just checked the buzzport application status and noticed that my newest scores were not listed… Will they automatically be listed in time or do I need to notify an admissions person?

Thanks~

pixeljig - yes, GT said he would be included in the early notification group. I checked over that application before he submitted it and didn’t see anything to “check” - so I also assumed they would go by the date of submission.

Meanwhile - we sent the email to UIUC at the same time (like within 30 minutes of each other) and we still have not received a response. And we even included his assigned student number! I’m not impressed.

^Thanks, looks like Nov 1 is for presidential scholarship, does this mean that kids will get turned down if they do not qualify for it? I am confused - should we have done RD then?

pixeljig: people don’t get turned down for GT if they don’t qualify for PS. That’d be a depressing system, no?

People who apply by Nov 1 get considered for admission and for PS. Those two are independent, but you do have to be admitted before you make PS semifinalist.

So, of the ~7,000 people who applied by Nov. 1, you could have a couple thousand get admitted before the holidays. Last year, there were ~600 PS semifinalists.

14 days!!!

i know right! I’m totally freaking out. can anyone chance me? I’m also new this whole College Confidential thing, so I have no idea what I’m doing lol

Just logged into my son’s account and he has been accepted! Yeah! How exciting to have an answer so early in the year!

D

Congrats.

According to ga tech admision forum.

“We have started to release decisions for those students who applied before the October 1 early notification deadline. All students who applied before October 1 will receive an admission decision online on November 20 at 5:00pm; however, a small group of students may receive admission decisions before that date.”

mama29kidos: What exactly did you check? the GT email account your son set up? or Buzzport?

I applied Nov 1, so they haven’t validated my buzzport account yet, and my GT email has been empty since so…please let me know =D

thanks

Most likely buzzport. A son of my coworker got accepted as transfer student. He found out by login buzzport. Then he got official admission letter a week later.

Mama - congrats for your son!

I just checked my son’s status and was REALLY shocked to see that it showed HS transcripts were received on Nov 5! VERY strange since the transcripts were sent in early July. I sent a quick email to them to see what the situation is. He figured his application - submitted Sept 30 - would be the last thing to arrive. :(

all right, thanks jim!

Well I don’t think ga tech requires a transcript until after you’ve been accepted. They asked us to self report our grades on the application - I believe it’s a “honor code” type thing to be honest. Is this correct?

^^^
Good point Hardcore - I had forgotten about that.

Okay - won’t sweat over that one…but we seem to have a similar problem with Purdue - which doesn’t show the transcripts rec’d AT ALL - and they were also supposed to be sent in early July. Time for some phone calls!

I just sent in my application (Nov. 1 deadline for Presidential Scholarship consideration) and on my application status it says “Regular Freshman” under application type. Should it say that? If not, will they change it once they sort through all the incoming apps?

thanks in advance

We found out on Buzzport. You can create your own Buzzport account - we did not need anything we didn’t have to do it, there are instructions on the site to set it up - it is easy if you follow along - I log in every once in a while to see if anything is happening! Was so shocked when it said “Congratulations - you have been offered admission!” I have no idea how long it had been there and he never got any emails. But as you can imagine he is thrilled to have an 'in" somewhere and actually decided not to apply to a few schools he was on the fence about.

Good luck to everyone - I think the stress has only begun!!!

Congrats to your son Mama29kidos, I’m still waiting nervously for my decision. So only a select few will get their decisions before November 20th? I really hope I am one of those  haha because I really want to know.

Mama Congrats! might i ask what his Scores were?!? just to gauge where i might sit…and i dont know scores arent everything…but im still curious :D

** and i know scores arent everything

So all of us that submitted our application in time for Early Notification will find out on November 20 if we got in?
