Check Duke RD app's status

My son submitted Duke's RD application over the weekend. We are wondering:

1) when we will expect to receive user ID and password so we can check the status online.
2) when we will expect to receive the alum interveiw invite.

Thanks!

Updates:

My son just got an email from Duke about his user ID and password with a URL link so he can check the status. The status listed on the Duke’s internal portal is pretty up to date and detailed. We are rather impressed by Duke’s efficiency.

Just curious when and/if he will receive the alum interview invite.

Is the alum interview optional or required?

The interview is optional, and Duke says it is not used in the decision process. When did you apply for the interview? They are done by alumni, so only a limited number are available in each area. D had hers about a month ago.

Uh, no. That’s not true. It’s certainly not a large component, but to say it is not used at all is disingenuous. Alumni interviewers submit evaluations, which are then read and considered by the admissions committee.

Also, you’re probably not going to get contacted about RD interviews until January. Interviews run through mid-February, if I recall correctly. Interviewers need to take care of ED applicants first.

Definitely do the interview if they can hook you up. Do it for all your colleges if possible. Get the long view on your college from alum and listen up and state your case as best you can when it is your turn to speak. good luck to everyone here…my son’s Duke interview increased his positive feelings for Duke and he feels his alum interviewer was a great guy

i submitted my supplement on 11/20
i submitted my app on the 11/31.
i got my ID and pass on 11/12 (today)
i got my E-mail for interview, 11/10
i had my interview 11/12. (today)

i applied early. the interview was very informal. they didnt ask much much questions. in fact, they asked me if i had any questions. the alumina gave me many insight to the college. they dont ask much about your self.
