*What are some of the things I need in order to be a viable candidate for NYU's Stern or BC's Carroll and other competitive undergraduate business schools?

SAT:1300( i know, im trying and studying very hard for a 2000+ in may)

GPA: 93 (uw)

Rank: Unranked

Religion: Catholic

Major: Business Administration/Management

School: Private Catholic School (ouch)

State: NY (advanced regents diploma)

Ethnicity: Italian

Backround: -1st generation italian in this country,
-Mom and dad did not finish high school let alone college
-Family income is low. (willing to take out a student loan)
-Oldest of 3 children.

Academics: National Honor Roll
National Honor Society
(I need some awards)
*question I got stuff on The National Young Leaders Conference

Total = 200 + hrs.
Goal by graduation = 500 + hrs. (yay still a junior)

*This summer i will be going to Rome to take college level business marketing and managment classes. And complete more service hours. Any and all ideas that will help me.

I am almost the same as you. (GPA ethnicity clubs etc.) Id just say raise the SAT score. I got into Caroll and Stern with a 1450, and since theyre both pretty numbers based, Id suggest raising your score at least 100 points. Everything else looks good tho.

Sorry, I guess the new SAT equivalent would be around 2100 or so.

thanks gold!

bump anyone else have any advice?

replllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly

if you're low income, you advice that you apply through HEOP to NYU.
it will pay you some money, and the program lowers the NYU admin. standards. look into it if you're low income

the money really dosnt matter, i should have never mentioned it, im gunna take out a loan, just wanna now if i gotta shot at being accepted. thanks for looking out breathfire i will look into HEOP

bump bump bump

"Academics: National Honor Roll
National Honor Society
(I need some awards)
*question I got stuff on The National Young Leaders Conference
and National Society of H.S Scholars, these any good?"

i know national honor roll is a scam, and i'm pretty positive that nylc and hs scholars is too.

i hate those scams! they ask you to buy a BOOK? that is sooooooooooooooooo weird! why the heck do they DO that? what is the meaning of this? arent colleges at all affected by that?

are colleges gonna be like... "oh hey look this guy is on the national honor roll"

or are they gonna be like... "haha... look at this idiot for listing this as an achievement. not even a real award. guess this guy doesnt have anything going for him. nex app."

they do it to make money, and it works.

cool how about my chances lol.

Concerning your ECs...do you have leadership positions in them? Because lots of clubs only helps if you DO things in them.

those honor societies aren't a "scam" if you don't buy the book...i got my biography [without picture] published in who's who & national honor roll two years in a row without paying anything, all i did was send back in the card with my info...it even says to be published it doesn't cost anything...unless you consider the cost of a few postage stamps a "scam"...and now that i've been in them for 2 years, they are automatically entering me into scholarships contests that i otherwise would not have been eligible for, which i also definitely need

i did the same

any comments on admission chances?
