today i got an email that basically asked to fill out a form on whether or not you want to withdraw your application to NYU (in the chance that u got accepted under ED to another school) and obviously i clicked the option that said “i do not want to withdraw”
is this a good sign or does everyone get this email?
Everyone would get that email- they’re protecting their yield.
@brookemitchell Hi! Could you copy and past the email here? I got an email but it wasn’t about whether or not I wish to withdraw my NYU application…
@writernwriters sorry I think I worded my question wrong. it was the email about whether or not you got accepted into another college under an early decision program!
I just accidentally clicked the link which redirected me to a survey page and the two options were “withdraw my application” or “do not withdraw my application” @writernwriters
@brookemitchell Oh, no, I meant that! The email itself was about whether or not we’ve gotten into another college under EA/ED, but I didn’t see anything like the form that you mentioned in the post. Did you click on “click here” before you saw that “form” and the options?
@brookemitchell Oops, sent before I saw your second reply Got it! Then we (at least you and I) received the same email. There were a few people who have not received the email in the RD thread, so hopefully it means something!
@writernwriters definitely don’t want to read too much into it, but it wouldn’t make sense to send the email to people who they know they’re going to reject, so hopefully it’s a good sign
@brookemitchell Yeah, I don’t know if I’m just desperate or what, but I think the reason it seems as if everyone’s received the email is just that those who HAVE received the email have all come onto CC to see if everyone else has received the same email - since there were a few to several people here who haven’t received one, I’m sure there are lots out there who aren’t on CC and have not received it. Is this their way of tormenting us anxious little souls? :’<
@writernwriters actually though AHHH april 1st seems so far away
@brookemitchell Can they just be like, “SURPRISE WE’RE RELEASING DECISIONS ON 15TH THIS YEAR! Oh, and just so you know, that email WAS a likely letter!” I’d be just SO happy :’< this anxiety is just killing me
right!! and being on college confidential every day makes it go even slower haha
At this point though the admissions office has already made their decisions and everything is completely out of our hands so the best thing to do is just find a way to pass the time as best as you can.
My son got the same email the other day… “Our admission committee is finalizing the review of your application for admission. We are checking in to determine if you have been offered admission to another college or university under an Early Decision program and have now made a binding commitment to another institution. If you have done so, please click here to let us know.
You do not need to respond to this email and you do not need to reiterate your interest in NYU. This communication is simply to determine if you have already committed to attend another college or university through a binding Early Decision program.”
and going back to Albert Login… lol
@brookemitchell hey ok so were we supposed to answer the survey saying that we don’t want to withdraw our application? because at the top of the survey it did say to only respond if you are withdrawing your application
@CityDreamGirl No. If you haven’t been accepted to a school early decision then there is no need to respond to fill out the survey.
@CityDreamGirl I think it’s fine if you did as long as you told them you don’t want to withdraw your app but there was no need to.
